I understand that there were some recent vacancies at Gitmo, so they surely have a room for him there . . . heck, they’ll even give him a Koran.

Maybe someone will have a welcoming committee waiting for him with signs like “Welcome home traitor!” and such.
We did it for clinton when he visited Baumholder Germany, there was a huge sign right by the main entrance to the base that said “Welcome home draft dodger!”

We had two idiots go AWOL on us after getting yelled at for showing up for an in ranks inspection formation looking like crap.
Next morning they were gone, and their room was trashed too.
One of them came back a few months later with some BS doctors note saying that he has some sorry azzed condition or another in which he can’t handle authority figures yelling at him. So he got chaptered out on a full medical as an E4 (he was only an E2 when he took off), and was told that after 6 months he would be able to reenlist.
I wonder if the Rose law firm will represent him? At the same time, he should stay out of Fort Marcy Park.

A distant relative got caught up in this situation.
He got a damned good education in the Army (radio) and after his service, started his own business, had a family and retired well.

I heard a neer-do-well in my neighborhood tell his story about his Army “Retraining Brigade”. I believe he was caught with pot and was offered brig or retraining brigade.
His group would assemble in front of their barracks when their doors were unlocked in the morning. The group was handcuffed to a long telephone pole which they carried to mess. After mess they were hooked to the pole and marched to a field.
They were unshackled and a Sergeant announced that they were here to learn the proper way to dig an Army latrine.
They dug a latrine. Marched pole back to lunch.
After lunch pole was marched back to latrine field where Sergeant announced that they were here to learn the proper way to fill in an Army latrine.
That is one way to get through to hard headed teens.

The traitor has just arrived in San Antonio for “reintegration”.
I know the jury is out on this guy but with all the reports from his buds in his squad the only integration he needs I feel is a piece of hemp.
Soon Bowe will be proclaiming his wounds in public.Anything to divert the US public away from Benghazi and other scandals.
Maybe he’s ashamed of himself, his parents, and Obama. Perhaps a dose of the real world dispelled his naivete’.
One can hope.
Bergdahl is mentally ill and should not be prosecuted. Not saying I agree with the deal, I didn’t. But now Bergdahl needs treatment and not death threats.
To trial for desertion and possible treason I hope.
