Two years ago, George Bush Sr. made a promise that he aimed to keep when he turned 90 years old on Thursday.
The 41st president plans to celebrate the milestone by going skydiving one last time, his granddaughter and TODAY contributor Jenna Bush Hager announced on TODAY Thursday.

The really telling thing is that you condemn me for mentioning mistakes that you yourself don’t even refute.
I am not going to get lost. I remember “no new taxes” and the historic coalition BUSH 1 put together only to fritter all that away giving credence to an overrated SoS (Powell who has since proven himself to be a Republican traitor) who convinced him not to dethrone Saddam when it could have done real good.
I ALSO am not going to be silent in remembering how BUSH II created two agencies (DHS and TSA) whose mandates have now been subsumed by Obama and are full-bore preparing to take our freedoms in nearly every action they take. Concurrent with his creation was the abject neglect of our spending, economy or even answering his detractors.
I’m not going to get lost. I remember, and I see and have seen what ignoring the obvious does, and celebrating some old man’s indulgences offers no solace nor reason to celebrate.
If things go well, what a ride!
If they don’t, beats winding up with your mind gone in a nursing home.
Maybe he can parachute into Iraq and show the world the old war pilot vet and President still has a set.
Will BO outdo this amazing feet by singing up for the one-way flight to Mars?
Thanks for the update. I wonder how mad Barbara is? :) I know she was not in favor of this 5 years ago.
And you don't refute my assertion that you would have preferred Dukakis, Gore or Kerry. The point of this thread is to marvel at the fact that a 90 year old will parachute from a plane. You want to hate?
Go ahead and state you hope the chute fails.
Bet you’re right! :)
I will say that both I and II did a marvelous job of addressing terrorism, Bush the junior more than the elder.
However, BOTH severely neglected the enemies from within and did virtually nothing to counteract them. This is all arguably proven if one looks at it from the benefit of hindsight and the absolute desperation we find ourselves in now.
I don't ‘hate’ as you say, but nevertheless, I can't stand idly by and celebrate the twilight years of a family whose inaction on so many fronts has left us where we are today. Even today, the idolizers of establishment Republicanism are pushing Jeb, and the rising new icon grandson out of Texas. Are we to forget the failures of their elders? Are we to just go on and say “That Jeb is really something?” and make the same mistakes again?
I don't hate the old man and I'm glad he got to do what he wanted. I celebrate his service and adversity in war. Some day, I hope my grand daughters have the ability to do what they want, unfettered from an oppressive and controlling government that isn't abetted by well-meaning dilettantes.
The ugly truth is, if this same guy had been a Democrat, the political hacks and hypocrites would be here mocking him for this stunt.
They can’t handle the truth.
Yes, my reaction also.
As in, “Oh, please, not again.”
Is he searching for some larger legacy, or what?
But, plainly, I am definitly losing my sense of humor lately. .)
It helps him get away from his “old lady” for the day.
I watched it live on TV, and didn’t like the landing - he was in the front of the tandem, and his 90 year old legs touched down first, then dragged behind the duo for 10 or 12 feet until they stopped.
George H. W. Bush is not only the only US President with a birthday in the month of June, he's also the only one to have sky-dived on his 90th birthday.

Not evil? Openly advocating for a one world government is evil in my books.
I concur, who gives a damn what this guy does now. He openly advocated for a one world order as president, and his son was no better if not worse.
Bring back Calvin Coolidge.
“Bring back Calvin Coolidge.”
And for the other party - Grover Cleveland, the last decent Democrat.
This what I hearing on CNN earlier this morning
BTW CNN reporter babe reporting that she is inviated back to Bush compound in Kennekput Maine for little BBQ Birthday party LOL!
On the other hand, if he doesn’t really have the use of his legs any more, it’s probably harder to do additional damage.
I didn’t expect such a long—five minute—and carefully steered ride, however. That seemed to a very special parachute-plus.
