The sun has had three major solar flares on its surface in the past two days that have affected communications on Earth and could send a shockwave through Earth this Friday, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The solar events caused brief blackouts in high frequency communications when they struck, twice on Tuesday morning and once this morning, all between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT.

mine too...class of ‘74
The Bees are dyin’, man. The Bees.
That’s ok, we knew what you meant.
You do understand there are real dangers out there that are low frequency but high impact right? Just because we haven’t had one for a couple of centuries doesn’t mean they can’t happen....
That was my original class. I went to Summer school every session and convinced the district to define class standing by number of classes completed instead of number of semesters attended. Voila! 10th grade->12th grade with full senior privileges. Class of 73. I enjoyed that approach so much that I pushed hard through UCSD and finished in June 76.
Lewinsky event?
I heard this AM, that Friday will also be the Honey Moon-—first in over a hundred years.
Me too! It is difficult to read further (I’m over half way through) as it sticks in my craw that the ‘town leaders’ chose to institute a socialistic system. I won’t so easily give up my preps for sharing with idiots who didn’t prepare. Other than the socialist aspect the book is interesting, and I may complete it someday.
Something else that's worrying me is that Ramadan starts just a few days before July 4th.
There's a smorgasbord of threats right now. Anyone who is not prepared by now is foolish.
I have a can of Campbell’s vegetable soup that’s about a year old and a plastic bottle of 6 month old tap water, in the cupboard and under the sink, respectively.
What more could I need? I’m set.
Good luck with that.
It’s Campbell’s. Mm-mm good. I don’t need luck!
Here is an "alternative" version, that takes place in the suburbs. Konkoly has thought situation this out pretty thoroughly although the degeneration happens at a bit slower place (a massive pandemic instead of an EMP) with a bit more warning which few really pay attention to as far as getting ready. Naturally, most believe the government reports and assume life will carry on as normal. Until it doesn't.
It is a very good read. I know it has increased my "tactical" awareness because it deals with human nature at the lowest level with very plausible scenarios.
Thanks. I put it on my Amazon wish list.
Thanks for the The Jakarta Pandemic heads up.
Have you read Matt Bracken’s books? They also deal with human nature at the lowest level and with plausible scenarios so real it will scare you. Link below.

“Just because we havent had one for a couple of centuries doesnt mean they cant happen”
Lots of really bad things can happen every couple of centuries, but that doesn’t make its news, and reporting every couple of years that such could happen won’t change whether they’ll happen or not, or even mitigate the consequences should such actually happen. Such reportage is simply a means to fill slow news days and to assure that the flame of constant alarmism amongst the peasants isn’t allowed to diminish for even a moment.
“The Bees are dyin, man. The Bees.”
I can’t believe I forgot the Bees, dude! Yes, the bees have all died out (or will soon) and all our food crops will be wiped out.
Curious though that the “killer bees” thing died out though, isn’t it? Perhaps when people didn’t actually get killed, they couldn’t keep up the narrative.
Yes. I have them all and I've passed them on to friends and family to read as well.
They are quite believable but hopefully not prophetic. I hope.
Well then...Happy Birthday.
