The defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is likely to significantly chill efforts to pass an immigration reform bill this year.
"One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents, Cantor said in a 2013 speech. It is time to provide an opportunity for legal residence and citizenship for those who were brought to this country as children and who know no other home."
Brat told voters he opposes Dream Act legislation.
For Eric Cantor to say he was against amnesty, while promoting it for certain groups, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., told the Washington Examiner, I guess that wasn't very believable.

Cantor spoke with forked tongue
real Americans don’t like that
I must have missed that one. I probably fell asleep, was drawing airplanes or looking out the window the day they taught that founding principle.
Oh, just look at all of the *children* in that photo! Why, most of them look to be not much older than....fifteen.
Wow I was busy and missed the news, first i heard about Cantor losing. The press had made it sound like he was unbeatable before.
That’s why we never send criminal lawbreakers to prison if they have minor children.
Oh wait. We do.
His pollster had him way ahead too
I can't recall being taught that founding principal in civics class either.
Must be a nu skewel thing.
Obama and another exploding cigar. He thought he could force the GOP to the table on his terms on immigration with these kids streaming across the border.
And it was pressuring some but it was the overplay of the century. Well, of the week with this guy. The videos of the border probably worth 10 points to Brat.
Obama uniting conservatives like no one else .
Cantor was talking out of both sides of his mouth. Voters want the borders secured BEFORE we look at immigration reform. Voters will not allow any more con jobs from hypocrites. It is not about the Tea Party, it is about honesty.
Obama’s Katrina
I like people that talk straight and don’t lie.
LOL. Touche!
Yes, I can imagine one of the framers asking, in that hot convention hall in Philadelphia, "Prithee, what if our uniform rule of naturalization punishes foreign children for the mistakes of their parents? Would that really be fair?"
Actually, I'm pretty sure they weren't worried about that one.
So, chidden won't be punished for the "mistakes" of their parents (the parents didn't accidentally send their kids across the border, you twerp!).
And parents won't be punished for their own "mistakes" (like willfully violating the law.
So, we have lots of lawbreaking and no punishment !
Article 3, Section 3, Clause 2 of the US Constitution.
However, as strictly written, “corruption of blood” only applies to those convicted of treason. The 5th Amendment infers the principle, overall, however.
In this case, the principle that children aren’t held accountable for the crimes of their parents is being made in a pretty expansive manner, tho.
Cantor always sounded dishonest to me so he got caught on this by GOP voters.
But being dishonest never hurt Grahamnesty.
So I agree with Cantor: we should stop punishing these children for the mistakes of their parents, by ending the mistake of their parents (mass immigration). These mistakes were not a force of nature, they were policy and policy can be changed.
Was his pollster Dick Morris?
