Mississippi candidate for U.S. Senate Chris McDaniel talked specifically and openly about issues in this interview with TPNN’s Tim Constantine on “The Capitol Hill Show” (listen below).
McDaniel, a constitutional conservative and Tea Party-backed candidate, is fresh off his narrow, yet amazing victory, forcing a run-off election on June 24 against 76-year-old incumbent Thad Cochran, who was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1976 after serving six years in the House.
Cochran, considered a big government Republican who has been referred to as the Republican “Pork King” for his adherence to pork-barrel and deficit spending, faces an uphill climb as McDaniel seems to have all of the momentum in the race despite Cochran’s support from the GOP establishment, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
McDaniel narrowly defeated Cochran, 49.5% to 49.0% (155,040 to 153,654), with neither reaching the necessary 50% plus one vote necessary to avoid a run-off.
“People in this state are ready for change,” McDaniel said to Tim, referring to Cochran’s track record. “They know that Senator Cochran has not been a conservative in years,” McDaniel continued.
McDaniel went on to accuse Cochran, who has repeatedly said, “I don’t know much about the Tea Party” movement, of not standing up to the Obama.
“They [Mississippi voters] know that he hasn’t even raised his voice or waged a fight against Barack Obama,” McDaniel told Tim Constantine.
McDaniel also said that, “what Mississippi wants, as the most conservative state in the Republic, is also the most conservative Senator.”
“Obamacare, what’s the answer?” Tim asked.

I will be waiting for Chris McDaniel to announce that running Christine O’Donnell against Mike Castle was A HUGE TEA PARTY MISTAKE BECAUSE A LIBERAL DELAWARE DESERVES A MODERATE REPUBLICAN.
I will also be waiting for Chris McDaniel to announce that Julianne Ortman should not have run for Senate in Minnesota because she is too conservative for that state.
I will be waiting for a long long time because on this issue, McDaniel has some level hypocrisy on this issue which for all politicians they will never admitt to.
And now, a mere 90 years hence, just a couple of generations later, Mississippi is the pride of America as the most Conservative and Christian state in the nation. The good people of Mississippi are indeed worthy of admiration for rejecting their liberal past and embracing the Conservative values that made America great!

Teaparty seems to be committed to defeating republican incumbents while leaving democrat incumbents unchallenged.

No, the Tea Party is committed to electing CONSERVATIVES. That means getting CONSERVATIVES nominated. We go after democrats (either incumbents or otherwise) AFTER we choose nominees of our own party.
The Establishment is committed to getting the most moderate candidate possible elected in every possible case. And once they are elected, to keep them there. The thought of the people selecting another REPUBLICAN to represent them is abhorrent to them. So they build enormous “warchests” to discourage challengers, and if they one runs anyway, to destroy them.
That statement is open to debate. All of Idaho's Senators and Congressmen are Republicans, as is the governor and most, if not all, state-wide elected officials. Can any other state currently top that?
Yes, Idaho does have some past shame by electing Frank Church to the Senate more than once, but he was eventually thrown out by conservative Steve Simms.
Rep. Mike Simpson recently survived a TEA party challenge in the Republican primary but maybe that can ultimately be corrected in the next cycle.

Not really, Every serious teaparty challenge has been to a republican incumbent or for an open seat.
The one exception was Ron Johnson defeating Russ Feingold.
There have been zero teaparty victories in senate races against democrat incumbents except for that one and most people don’t even calll Johnson teaparty anymore.
Let me repeat, TEAPARTY (except for Ron Johnson) HAS ZERO VICTORIES OVER DEMOCRAT SENATE INCUMBENTS.
Honest question...by what criteria is Mississippi the most conservative state? I’d really like to know which state is the most conservative, and by what measure(s) it is determined so. A top ten would be interesting to see even.
I saw some list (source unknown) of the most conservative and liberal states, but do not recall MS being in the top three even. I guess it depends on how you measure it.

Also, I just compiled a list of combined income and sales taxes by state, and Mississippi came out 44th...one of the highest combined rates in the nation. That doesn’t ring conservative to me, but I realize there’s more to it than that (gas taxes, property taxes, fees, fees, fees...).
I guess my point is that ranking states on any kind of freedom index seems quite challenging. I mean, can you really just go by voting history?

That’s the difference between the Establishment and the Tea Party. We begin with the idea that we should nominate the most conservative person possible BECAUSE UNLIKE MODERATES, CONSERVATIVES GO AFTER DEMOCRATS.
The establishment begins with the idea of the democrat candidate and then looks around for some big name to beat them. I seem to recall the names Pete Hoekstra, Connie Mack, Carly Fiorina, Tommy Thompson, Denny Rehberg, Rick Berg, George Allen, Heather Wilson, Joseph Kyrillos.
Losers in 2012. All losers. The Tea Party has been around only since 2009. We’re learning and getting better candidates as time goes on. You guys have been at this for decades, and the Welfare State gravy train continues on WITH THE HELP OF THOSE YOU SUPPORT.
Because your sole goal is to get republicans elected, our goal is to turn back the tide of liberalism by electing those who will do that.
Fewer liberal republicans in the senate to carry water for the democrats is a good thing.

Same old argument since the 30’s. Only moderates can win, as Wendell Willkie, Thomas Dewey, Gerald Ford, George Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney can certainly attest.

I remember when a Republican finally won the governorship in Mississippi. Was he a moderate? I guess there was no incumbent though to run against. It was just Democrat rule for 100 years.
