THE KEY TO FAILURE
I recently read a devotion in God's Little Devotional Book for Women, which really touched my life. This book was copyrighted in 1996 by Honor Books, Inc. in Tulsa Oklahoma. The story on pages 98 and 99 tells of a painter who wanted to produce one work which would please everyone. So she painted a picture, and hung it in the public marketplace. She posted directions for people to mark the places they did not like with a small paint brush. She was surprised when she returned to find her picture was just a blob. So, the next day, she took another copy of the painting and asked people to mark the places they liked. By the afternoon, the picture was exactly the same blob. The artist concluded, "I now believe the best way to please one-half of the world is not to mind what the other half thinks or says." People always have an opinion about what we say or do, and the key to failure is to try to please everyone. The key to success, on the other hand, is to live according to God's opinions...those spelled out in the Bible. Then we will not fret over the opinions of others. "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other." (Matthew 6:24)

LORD, REMEMBER NOT all our wickednesses, but in mercy, Lord, look thou upon us. Lord, our Savior blest, send Salvation! And release us and forgive us our transgressions for the majesty of thy glorious Namesake. Hallelujah, Hallelujah! |

Good evening, Maestro! I had the great joy of singing that motet - tenor part - almost thirty rears ago as a chorister at Westmoreland Congregational, barely on the Maryland side of Westmoreland Circle in West Bethesda. The choral Director there was Sondra Proctor, a consummately talented and compassionate Choral Conductor and an accomplished organist.
I have loved that piece ever since, and, after a long search, I finally found it on Amazon.

Hi, Kathy!Sadly, the back is not doing better. I woke up this morning and could barely make it from the bed to my dresser. I took Aleve this morning - little relief.
The weather here yesterday and today has been absolutely beautiful. I haven't gotten any dirt time in, but today in the Front Garden, my Day-lily "Happy Returns" yielded its first bloom.
