THE KEY TO FAILURE
I recently read a devotion in God's Little Devotional Book for Women, which really touched my life. This book was copyrighted in 1996 by Honor Books, Inc. in Tulsa Oklahoma. The story on pages 98 and 99 tells of a painter who wanted to produce one work which would please everyone. So she painted a picture, and hung it in the public marketplace. She posted directions for people to mark the places they did not like with a small paint brush. She was surprised when she returned to find her picture was just a blob. So, the next day, she took another copy of the painting and asked people to mark the places they liked. By the afternoon, the picture was exactly the same blob. The artist concluded, "I now believe the best way to please one-half of the world is not to mind what the other half thinks or says." People always have an opinion about what we say or do, and the key to failure is to try to please everyone. The key to success, on the other hand, is to live according to God's opinions...those spelled out in the Bible. Then we will not fret over the opinions of others. "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other." (Matthew 6:24)

Weekly Prayer for America
Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for this nation as the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1 prayed for the early churches. We pray constantly. We pray that You fill this land with the knowledge of Your will. We pray, Lord, that our countrymen will come to this understanding of Your will because they have gained spiritual wisdom and understanding. We know that they cannot gain spiritual wisdom if they do not hear about You. How can they hear without someone to tell them? So, inspire us, Lord Jesus, to tell of Your might and of Your mercy. Inspire us to tell of Your justice and of Your grace. For it in fearing You that we learn wisdom, and it is in Your grace that we find redemption. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.

I have been reading Marcus Luttrell’s book “Service A Nay Seal At War”. In the back is a list of 6 pages of UDT and SEALS killed since 1943. There are about 35 who died on June 6,1944 at Normandy.

Lesson From A Toothache
June 8, 2014
Read: Hebrews 12:3-11
When I was a child I often had a toothache, wrote C. S. Lewis in his classic book Mere Christianity. He continued, and I knew that if I went to my mother she would give me something that would deaden the pain for that night and let me get to sleep. But I did not go to my motherat least not till the pain became very bad. . . . I knew she would take me to the dentist the next morning. . . . I wanted immediate relief from pain, but I could not get it without having my teeth set permanently right.
Similarly, we might not always want to go to God right away when we have a problem or are struggling in a certain area. We know that He could provide immediate relief from our pain, but He is more concerned with dealing with the root of the problem. We may be afraid that He will reveal issues that we are unprepared or unwilling to deal with.
In times like these, it is helpful to remind ourselves that the Lord deals with [us] as with sons (Heb. 12:7). His discipline, though perhaps painful, is wise, and His touch is loving. He loves us too much to let us remain as we are; He wants to conform us to the likeness of His Son, Jesus (Rom. 8:29). Gods purposes of love can be trusted more than any of our emotions of fear.
Thank You, Lord, for showing me my hidden
faults, for You treat me as Your dear child.
Help me surrender to Your cleansing work
till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
Gods hand of discipline is a hand of love.
A constant refrain in Scripture is that God chastens and that such discipline is evidence of His love and a prerequisite of our sonship (Deut. 8:5; 2 Sam. 7:14; Job 5:17-18; Ps. 89:30-33; Prov. 3:12; Heb. 12:5-8). But Gods discipline is much more than just rebuke and punishment. It includes nurture, instruction, and training in holiness and righteousness (12:10-11).

WOW! I imagine the UDT and SEALS teams were really busy at Normandy. Sounds like a great book, and by a good author.
