In an interview with Dr. Ben Carson for Meet the Press's web-based feature Press Pass, NBC host David Gregory dismissed Carson's call for "a government that placed the Constitution of the United States at the highest level": "There are some people who say that. That's a very highly charged thing to say. Where is the Constitution not placed in the right level today?" [Listen to the audio]
Carson gave Gregory a dose of reality: "Because it helps to define what the role of the government is. It doesn't include being in every aspect of our lives....when you take people who are perfectly capable of doing things and you pat them on the head and then you say, 'There, there, you poor little thing, we're going to take care of this and this, you won't have anything to worry about.'"
Earlier in the exchange, Gregory actually lectured Carson on the importance of big government for African-Americans: "Government intervention certainly mattered for African-Americans legislatively, through the judiciary. And certainly beyond just African-Americans, the idea of government stepping in to help people who are being left behind certainly shows evidence of working. Do you agree with that? Is that a fundamental role for government?"

Of course Gregory thinks it’s “highly charged” to demand adherence to the law. Just like it was “highly charged” to demand he be arrested for having an ASSAULT WEAPON 30 ROUND MAGAZINE in Washington DC!
If he can’t claim “highly charged” he might be in prison takin it up the keester! Of course it’s “highly charged”.
But why did he concede? In those instances, the government worked within the constitutional borders by allowing for amendment! It worked as planned! Where it didn’t work was when judges stepped in and upheld segregation laws.
I think Carson took that as a given. Perhaps he shouldn't have - liberal ignorance knows few bounds.
The Doctor vs. The Dick.
The Doctor wins hands down.
Gregory is just another easily forgettable face in the long line of leftoid talking heads eaten up with white guilt.
They are always eager to lecture moderate and conservative blacks on what is best for blacks.
media: You want the government to obey the constitution? You some kind of extremist weirdo?
//I wish it was sarcasm
He is a guy who was sick when the constitution was explained in his school.
It’s a shame. He could have pointed out that conservatives are not against government power as intended within the constitution...and this is a perfect example of how it worked without having to have some judge come in and make up laws on his or her own.
