Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has made his intentions clear as he hit the campaign trail with Jodi Ernst on the eve of the crowded Iowa GOP U.S. Senate primary.
First, he hopes to help Republicans gain control of the U.S. Senate, either in the midterm elections or in 2016, and that has led to him stumping for Ernst, The Des Moines Register reported. The primary in Iowa is Tuesday.
Second, after taking a back seat last year as a potential GOP candidate for president, Rubio is pondering his political future and that may lead to him taking a shot at the White House.
Although Rubio rarely makes endorsements, hes made an exception with Ernst, an Iowa state senator who is facing four other Republicans seeking the party's nomination for the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin.
I just really felt like we would make an exception in this case because there's such an exceptional candidate running here, Rubio told the Register.
This is not just having an Republican nominee, it's the hope of electing someone to the U.S. Senate who isn't just going to be someone that votes the right way but is someone who's actually going to make a difference."
Rubio noted that Ernst, a military commander in the Iowa Army National Guard, will bring "tremendous credibility" to national security issues, while adding that she proved her voting record in the state legislature. "She's not just against Obamacare, she's voted against it," Rubio said.

Us conservatives do not want you.
Consider away, brah.
Don’t bother, Rube.
I think he’d be great. I’ve seen him speak (I live in Florida) and he’s an excellent, intelligent speaker and his ideas are excellent.
If you disagree with him on immigration (and he’s not in favor of what you call “amnesty”) go ahead, but look at the other things he has said. This election is not going to be won on whether or not people hate Mexicans.
Will Rubio be naked like the last guy ?
Sir, with all due respect,
Please secure our borders first before considering running for president.
which party?
Go to hell, Sen. Marco “Amnesty” Rubio!
Frankly I was hoping the next president had enough respect for Americans to be at least minimally honest with them.
And soon FR will be deluged with Rubiobots telling us that he really is against amnesty and we all hate our country unless we back him
Like last time.
Please. Don’t.
Rubio, Jeb Bush, another Romney rerun, and Christie are not acceptable candidates. We need a conservative who would cut the actual size of FedGov, completely repeal ObamaCare, and move as rapidly as possible in the direction of restoring the Constitution and the rule of law. That is the only way to restore our economy and create worthwhile jobs.
He lost my trust so badly, not only will I not for him, I'll actively campaign against him with friends, neighbors, or anyone that will listen.
The only reason I want him to run now is to split the vote between himself, Jeb, and fat boy thereby watching the GOPE lose to a conservative for the first time in a long time.
Too late. See post 5.
Why do you throw the word "hate" around like a hyperventilating leftwinger?
You think I "hate" Mexicans because I don't want my country flooded with millions of illegals?
If you do...oh,well. *shrug*
Why bother, Marco? We already have an open-borders guy in the White House.
Anyone stupid enough to let Schumer roll them is not in the picture for me.
Sorry there ‘Thirsty’, your amnesty agenda disqualified you.
"Hating Mexicans" is a red herring. Hating the fact we have surrendered our southern border and are being overrun is the issue.
