In his most sweeping effort to date to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change, the Obama administration will unveil a new rule from the Environmental Protection Agency on Monday limiting the amount of carbon pollution from coal power plants.
The rule will impose a cap on the level of emissions existing power plants are permitted and it will provide each state a flexible series of options to implement that cap. Among other options, power plants will be allowed to increase the energy they derive from renewable sources like wind and solar power, adopt new technology to increase energy efficiency, and join or create a statewide cap-and-trade system to effectively tax the excess carbon emissions.
The total effect of those options could cut the amount of carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants by up to 20 percent.
President Obama explained the importance of the new rules in his weekly address on Saturday.
"Today, about 40 percent of America's carbon pollution comes from power plants. But right now, there are no national limits to the amount of carbon pollution that existing plants can pump into the air we breathe -- none," he said. "We limit the amount of toxic chemicals like mercury, sulfur, and arsenic that power plants put in our air and water. But they can dump unlimited amounts of carbon pollution into the air. It's not smart, it's not safe, and it doesn't make sense."
"That's why, a year ago, I directed the Environmental Protection Agency to build on the efforts of many states, cities, and companies, and come up with commonsense guidelines for reducing dangerous carbon pollution from our power plants," the president continued. "This week, we're unveiling these proposed guidelines,

We were never going to have Romney.
Romney was chosen by Obama and the Ruling Class to be the paper candidate to create the illusion that this people still have a voice in elections.
We went Soviet in 2008.
Romney is simply a Democrat.
Choose between the Marxist or the Socialist eh?
We chose principles over expedience because that is what matters in the Eyes of God.
They never see that they must run a conservative, or be destroyed.

Only if China also complies, otherwise it’s pointless.
The fact is that the Republican party and their leadership hate and despise Conservatives every bit (and perhaps more) than the Democrat MarxoFascists do.
The fact the GOP leadership declared war on Conservatives and ‘vowed to crush us wherever they find us’ is conveniently ignored by the party hacks like you see on this thread.
Now we’re “purists’ according to the talking points the entire Ruling Class and the media propagandists are running with.
There is a reason I consider the GOP leadership to be nothing but political Judenrats for the Democrat party. Because that is what they are.
If Reagan ran today, you would hate his guts, too. He signed an amnesty bill in 2006; he lowered taxes, but raised them, too; nominated Sandra Day O'Connor and I could go on and on.
There is no one pure and absolutist enough for you. Wallow in it.

You party hacks have gotten your way since Reagan left office. In fact, if it were up to you people, Reagan would have NEVER HAPPENED and you STILL would be blaming Conservatives for everything gone wrong.
We GAVE every GOP “moderate” shoved down our throat our vote and power since 1988. Gave them control of Congress and the White House. What did they do? Spent like drunken sailors and expanded government to it’s largest level EVER recorded - until Obama.
You party hacks had your chances, you got your way. YOU are the reason we have Obama and YOU and YOUR KIND are at war with Conservatives - self admittedly so. Hell, you even spout the Ruling Class talking points.
Not a damn thing you can do about us “Absolutists”. You people keep trying to put a gun of shame to our heads to vote for your Establishment Judenrats - as if that is going to work to restore the Republic your party helped destroy.
Bitter? Excuse you but YOUR LEADERS are the ones who have declared war on Conservatives.
YOUR leaders run interference for Obama and the Democrats.
YOUR leaders have betrayed Conservative principles for Statism.
YOUR leaders will not do their duty, not 70%, not 50% not 5%. They fold and capitulate to the enemy every single time.
You want ‘moderates’ who are Socialists and foster big government oligarchs on the people as their only choice. You impugn and ridicule people of principle and castigate their values because they have decided not to compromise them any longer.
You run Democrats disguised as Republicans, you get nothing. Fact of life since Reagan.
But still you people will blame Conservatives. In this, you and the Marxofascist Democrats are allies.
However, I must write that after 40 years after Roe v. Wade, why are you putting your hope in politicians? If Reagan couldn't do anything about it, no one can. There is no pathway to make abortion illegal. It isn't going to happen. It has taken 40 years just to get some regulatory teeth in a number of states, such as, hospital standards for abortion clinics. However, the current governor of Virginia is going to reverse those standards, so we are back to square one in this state.
It's good to march and spout off, but it accomplishes nothing. Do you really think all this time you spend on FreeRepublic accomplishes anything? No, I don't think so. If you are so upset about abortion, why don't you volunteer to do something about it? Go and lobby; send letters; take an unwed mom to be in your home so she can have the baby instead of aborting. Would you be willing to do those things? Politicians will do nothing about abortion including pro lifers. The only thing that will change the debate is the heart. People will have to change themselves. In this post Christian society, will that happen? Perhaps, one never knows.
Romney wasn't my preferred candidate - the one I liked was named Newt, who wasn't good enough because of his baggage - you know, the sinners throwing the stones over his divorces and indiscretions. He wasn't good enough - wasn't pure enough.
So we got Romney, who really is pure. Obama's team couldn't find one piece of dirt on him, couldn't even find him looking at another woman. His personal life is remarkable. He is amazingly generous and caring. Some of the stories other people told on his behalf were impressive. Bringing his whole family on Christmas Day to a family's house much less fortunate than his to give to that family. One reason he did that was to teach his sons how important it is to give.
He gave his entire inheritance to BYU hospital.
Romney is a leader. Have you ever read how he dealt with the Big Dig when a piece of it fell and killed a traveler driving through the tunnel? Read it because it shows a true leader.
I don't agree with Romney on some things, but he is pure as white and an honest to goodness leader. I don't think you would ever hear him say that he wasn't aware of a situation/circumstance until he heard about it on the news.
Romney may have been pure, but wasn't your cup of tea. The House could have passed amnesty by now if they had wanted to, but they have not. It's because the citizens have made such a fuss, they are afraid to.
So yes, you could have had a model citizen as president, who is a leader, but instead you now have Obama, again.
You could have had 50% and a leader; instead you have nothing.
The interesting thing is that Reagan signed an abortion bill when he was governor of California - by your high and mighty standards that would have made him ineligible for the presidency. But since Reagan did not adhere to your standards, you would have preferred a second Carter term instead a Reagan. Look at what a mistake that would have been.
Bitter, you are and bitter you will stay and accomplishing nothing. Then do something. What are you doing about it?
What history teaches those who understand history do when tyranny is established.
In addition, I will prefer and select staunch Conservatives every single time if elections have any meaning. Absolutists who will not betray Conservatism.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Your party is already done for.
You just don't realize it yet.
I don't really care who you vote for and what your beliefs are. It means nothing to me.
And yes, I agree, the republican party may be done for and, if so, well deserved.
Obviously you cannot comprehend English.
You can't get people nominated that match the platform, today.
I'm not a republican. I'm a conservative.
BTW, Reagan signed that one bill, and then said it was the biggest mistake of his career. Romney spent most of his political life pro-choice. Big difference.
Quit attacking people that won't vote for your liberal candidate. It doesn't get you any votes. It just makes you a jerk.
Try running a conservatives instead of defending pro-abortion gun grabbers.
/johnny
That liberal republican selected democratic chairmen for the Texas Senate (republican majority). Just enough so he could block conservative legislation.
That liberal republican is gone now. His replacement is expected to not block conservative legislation.

I say
"IT'S TIME TO IMPEACH OBAMA!"
You will have to replace the majority of both houses of Congress first before that could ever enter the realm of possibility.
It would be wiser to wish for flying unicorns.
We shouldn't have won the Revolutionary War. For most of the war, General Washington's strategy was retreat.
We should have lost the War of 1812 when the British occupied and burned down Washington D.C.
America has seen many times of peril and Providence was seen to have taken a Hand in America's destiny. I don't believe that Hand is done with this great country. The Obamacrats may be a problem, but our God is bigger than the Obamacrats.
So I say again, IMPEACH OBAMA! If it takes a Congressional overhaul, let 2014 be the time, I pray.
