However, I must write that after 40 years after Roe v. Wade, why are you putting your hope in politicians? If Reagan couldn't do anything about it, no one can. There is no pathway to make abortion illegal. It isn't going to happen. It has taken 40 years just to get some regulatory teeth in a number of states, such as, hospital standards for abortion clinics. However, the current governor of Virginia is going to reverse those standards, so we are back to square one in this state.
It's good to march and spout off, but it accomplishes nothing. Do you really think all this time you spend on FreeRepublic accomplishes anything? No, I don't think so. If you are so upset about abortion, why don't you volunteer to do something about it? Go and lobby; send letters; take an unwed mom to be in your home so she can have the baby instead of aborting. Would you be willing to do those things? Politicians will do nothing about abortion including pro lifers. The only thing that will change the debate is the heart. People will have to change themselves. In this post Christian society, will that happen? Perhaps, one never knows.
Romney wasn't my preferred candidate - the one I liked was named Newt, who wasn't good enough because of his baggage - you know, the sinners throwing the stones over his divorces and indiscretions. He wasn't good enough - wasn't pure enough.
So we got Romney, who really is pure. Obama's team couldn't find one piece of dirt on him, couldn't even find him looking at another woman. His personal life is remarkable. He is amazingly generous and caring. Some of the stories other people told on his behalf were impressive. Bringing his whole family on Christmas Day to a family's house much less fortunate than his to give to that family. One reason he did that was to teach his sons how important it is to give.
He gave his entire inheritance to BYU hospital.
Romney is a leader. Have you ever read how he dealt with the Big Dig when a piece of it fell and killed a traveler driving through the tunnel? Read it because it shows a true leader.
I don't agree with Romney on some things, but he is pure as white and an honest to goodness leader. I don't think you would ever hear him say that he wasn't aware of a situation/circumstance until he heard about it on the news.
Romney may have been pure, but wasn't your cup of tea. The House could have passed amnesty by now if they had wanted to, but they have not. It's because the citizens have made such a fuss, they are afraid to.
So yes, you could have had a model citizen as president, who is a leader, but instead you now have Obama, again.
You could have had 50% and a leader; instead you have nothing.
The interesting thing is that Reagan signed an abortion bill when he was governor of California - by your high and mighty standards that would have made him ineligible for the presidency. But since Reagan did not adhere to your standards, you would have preferred a second Carter term instead a Reagan. Look at what a mistake that would have been.
