Jay Carney, the journalist-turned-press-aide who jousted daily with his former colleagues over issues from the Benghazi terrorist attack to the glitch-ridden health care website, stepped down as the White House press secretary on Friday.
President Obama interrupted Mr. Carney’s regular briefing to deliver the news, announcing that Mr. Carney would be replaced by his deputy, Josh Earnest, whose ties to Mr. Obama date to the 2008 presidential campaign, in which Mr. Earnest served as the communications director in Iowa.
“Jay has become one of my closest friends and is a great press secretary and a great adviser,” Mr. Obama said, as Mr. Carney yielded the podium. “He’s got good judgment, he has good temperament and he’s got a good heart. And I’m going to miss him a lot.”
In an interview, Mr. Carney, 49, said he was leaving after more than three years in the job — and more than five years in the administration — to devote more time to his family.
Friends of Mr. Carney said he also wanted to return to the private sector for financial reasons. He and his wife, Claire Shipman, a writer and part-time contributor to ABC News, have a 12-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter, both in private school in Washington.

Journalist? What an inspiration huh? I hear cnn is having a hard time recruiting on-screen “personality” (or is it talent?) so maybe he could land a job there. Maybe he and not so sharpton could team up at whatever lsm outlet he works for.

Well there’s goes the comedy relief of the 0bama regime.
Guess he discovered that the Obamadork’s sleazy standards were even worse than those of he and his wife.
And as we all know, journalist standards are way, way down there, just above those of drug dealers.
Now he gets to go host a TV show or teach at Columbia the rest of his life. Ain’t Marxism wonderful?

Name does appear to be destiny. Carney (Carny?) has overseen the circus of late, but he’s being replaced by Josh Earnest. I wonder which part of his name will win out.
I ain't defending him, I don't agree with him, and I'm somewhat sure we're on different ends of the political spectrum. But if I ran into him in a bar, I'd buy him a beer. That had ta be a tough duty. To be the representative liar for the liar-in-chief. It was his JOB. -Schneeks. d:^)
