A cheese plate, pictured, depicting the United States with three stars marking the sites of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, was removed from the gift shop of the National September 11 Memorial Museum. (Scott Lynch/Gothamist.com)
That's just plain tacky........................
Talk about cheesy . . .
Nowhere nearly so tacky as letting Moose-limbs build a celebration mosque so close to this site . . .
This museum...I don’t know.
Ugh.
Somewhere, some bonehead or a panel of boneheads approved the cheesy and tasteless souvenir ideas.
But, but ...
I like cheese!
(Do you?)
Wait, what?
I think a mosque would be appropriate so that everyone who visits would have a chance to defile it.
Shanksville is a Muslim crescent pointing to Mecca. Ground Zero is in the shadow of a towering Mosque and most Americans are anti-Christian, anti-Jewish and anti-Constitution. And, we have no jobs.
The whole phrase “commemorative cheese platter” is odd!
The museum is good. Not to forget what Islam is. But a gift shop???? Wonder if they have replica candles of the burning towers.
Shucks! I was going to put some brie on New York City, a little Scrapple on the Pennsylvania crash and some olives on the Pentagon. What a delight it would have been for my...liberal guests. Another opportunity to show progressive bad taste.
Just plain waste of money - wouldn’t make much difference if it was left on the shelves or not, probably will never sell for retail and would have been dumped on the secondary market. Which probably means this now will be destroyed and all the money making (and buying it for the store) will be lost.
With tasteless junk at a museum shop, best course is just to not buy it and let natural selection prune out the trash rather than protesting it.
In my house Florida would have been broken off within a week.
It seems that so many people are complaining about something to do with this museum. Some complaining about a gift shop. There’s a gift shop at the Museum of Tolerance in L.A. too. People just need something to cry about these days.
