Add Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) to the list of Democrats attacking Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for saying Obamacare should be repealed but Kentucky's Obamacare exchange, Kynect, should stay in place.
That statement by McConnell's campaign has sparked criticism by both the Lexington Herald Leader editorial board and Jonathan Hurst, the campaign manager for Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes, who's running against McConnell.
Here's Beshear's response, passed to TPM on Wednesday in response to questions about McConnell's position:
Eliminating ACA means that folks with pre-existing conditions will struggle to find coverage, young adults won't be able to stay on their parents' coverage, women won't be treated equally by insurers and federal subsidies for Kentuckians will end. Senator McConnell either doesn't understand what the ACA is, or is just trying to mislead Kentucky families for his political benefit at their expense.
Beshear has been widely praised for setting up Kynect, which is often regarded as the model for state-based marketplaces created through Obamacare.

McConnell deserves to lose after attacking the KY conservatives as viciously as he did. Hopefully, the Republicans can pick up another Senate seat to stay on track for a majority without him.
Why does it have to be an “or” condition?
The argument’s been made any number of times before. McConnell is an underminer and an insidious schemer. If he was a back-bencher with his voting record, I would support him. But he VOTES conservative and then UNDERMINES conservatives at every turn. And he’ll be “leader.”
My goal is to make the US Senate a more conservative body. And yes the US Senate will be more conservative with a democrat sitting in his seat.

Because repeal Obamacare in its entirity and you take away the insurance premium subisidies and additional Medicaid funding that make Kynect possible. You can still have the exchange but with little or nothing to offer on it.

I probably won’t. But we won’t have a leader that intentionally and with relish, goes after conservatives with a meat cleaver but gently rubs democrats with a dull butter knife. Conservatism cannot advance in the Senate with Mitch McConnell as leader, for he willfully works to undermine it. And he lusts after the power that he’s ceded to the Majority Leader position over the past several years. That’s very dangerous. I don’t care about the “r” next to his name.
If it doesn’t make the Senate more conservative it will at least make the GOP more conservative, which is a good thing too

Exactly! It is no less a than a death wish. Why do people think all the big leftist resources are focused on KY, including hedonistic Hollywood. They want to beat McConnel more than any other Senator, because they view him and his power as a block to their socialist intentions. As for Obamacare, the VA scandal is the trailer to what will take place there. It will give bureaucrats the power over life and death. There will be no need for gas chambers or firing squads when the enemies of freedom win. They will simply hide murders inside the healthcare system. This is what I believe and human nature without God but with raw power throughout history back me up.

Although I agree on the premise that the senate would be more conservative without Senator Marbles, HOWEVER, it is the number of senators that count. He will vote whatever the leadership says to vote. If the left maintains a 51 to 49 control of the senate we are all screwed. Any and all legislation brought forward by dumbo will be passed. WE CAN AFFORD THAT AS A NATION. IMO, the best case would be to have Marbles voted in but not give a leadership role.

Let me apologize to all Kentuckians in advance, but, I have had direct dealings with Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, he is the single most foolish of all the governors I have ever en-counted.
Gov. Steve Beshear has no grasp of reality, no ability, or so it seems, to grasp what is being said.
I question the sanity of any conservative who advocates the election of a democrat to the United States Senate and if were up to me such advocacy would not be allowed here, DU is the place to go for that. Say "I won't support McConnell" fine, but openly calling for the election of a liberal pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-tax, pro-Obama *itch to the Senate, for 6 years!??? SIX YEARS?! No. I can't believe you guys are serious. This is textbook "cutting off your nose to spite your face".

I do not know whether you are Tea Party, but , the Primary election in KY shows how much that group failed. It is a great lack of insight into KY politics to think you can send a young woman from a 1% wealthy family, who are huge Obama supporters, to Washington D.C., with clout only to agree with the entire leftist agenda and kick out the person who has the power and knows the ropes concerning the possible ways to oppose it. Is he perfect. No! But, he is one of the few who has some power to stand against the worst of it. Again, why do you think so many huge resources are flooding into KY from California and from the Obama Organizations, in an effort to beat Sen. McConnel.
