The war on climate change may soon be moving inside the kitchen.
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy is set to unveil on Tuesday six federal grants to universities to fund research on clean cookstove technology.
The announcement will put the EPAs resources squarely behind a United Nations quest for cleaner burning stoves and an end to deadly cooking pollution.
This research will help to improve air quality, protect public health and slow climate change, the EPA said in explaining why the agency chief will preside over the announcement on Tuesday.
To make the case for why these grants are so important, EPA noted the World Health Organization estimates that exposure to smoke from traditional cookstoves and open pit fires leads to 4.3 million premature deaths each year.

Millions of people are out of work, largely through the non-stop destruction of America by Executive Branch Agencies like the EPA.
They write regulations, they pass laws, they circumvent the will of the people. They are not permitted to do this, they are, including the IRS illegal.
Don’t expect the rump rangers in congress to do anything about it.
Wretches all.

Yep...you're hosed.
That will be labled a polluter.
They won't be happy until everybody is cooking like this.

I see this being imposed on restaurants, much like the ADA regulations were. They will be forced to install expensive “clean burning” stoves, exhaust systems, and filters. This will necessitate EPA inspections of these kitchens to ensure compliance, for a fee of course. It will also increase manufacturing costs. In the end, businessman and homeowners (the rich) will bear the brunt.

How are regulations by the EPA in THE UNITED STATES going to have any benefit to the millions of third-world women who spend all day cooking over dung fires in tiny huts, ruining their lungs?

4.3 million dead per year? From cooking? Where do they get these numbers???
Easy. 215,000,000 (say) people cook over smoky fires in their huts. Say 2% of them die each year as would be expected. All of those are believed to have had their lives shortened slightly (or significantly) from the stove smoke. That’s 4.3 million “premature deaths” each year.

Actually, it would be logical and reasonable to hope that everyone who now cooks every day on smoky wood fires in their huts were to cook on efficient stoves like that.
Which is a good job for international charitable and educational organizations, and has nothing to do with the population of the US, or the federal government.

Falling into the open fire accounts for some.
Splatter from turkey fryers probably account for some. :^()
Perfect example of a gov. agency thinking up ways to perpetuate their existence.
