We have a nice day here today. I caught 19 crappie the past three days. Two I caught today were 14” and had the mouth of a bass. I gave my neighbors 16 filets and put a few into the freezer. Still have some to give away.

That’s wonderful! I haven’t been fishing in the last few years, I’m sorry to say. I miss it very much, and our boat is a mess.

I’ve got the nickname of ‘crappie man’ at the fishing well last year. I only fish with jigs and out catch the people using live bait by a mile. I’ve probably caught over 100 keepers this year.

We have fires to the south and overnight the wind changed. Now we have smoke everywhere and the air conditioning at our office was turned off this morning.

I saw a program a while back on “The History Channel”. It was about Julius Caesar’s campaign in Germany. His engineers built a bridge across the Rhine using human powered pile drivers.

When they crossed back going the other way they destroyed the bridge. Pretty amazing what those ancient people could do.

Interesting story I found written by a guy named Miller:
My father Robert F. Miller, has rarely spoken of his war experience, but I have been able to piece together the few shreds of information he has imparted. He was captured in the early days of the Battle of the Bulge and sent to Stalag IVB (verified by his prison tags which I have). He speaks of the day they woke up and found that the Germans had left. They had known the war was winding down due to the radio reports received by a clandestine receiver hidden by one of the men. A group of Russian Cossacks on horseback arrived confirming the fact the Germans were gone. He was then transferred deeper into Russian lines�not released. He was confined, along with a number of other allied soldiers, to a town guarded by the Russians. Trusting the Russians less than they trusted the Germans, he and three other American soldiers stole bicycles and pedaled their way to the American lines, bribing their way through Russian checkpoints with the aid of stolen vodka. After reaching a river with the Americans on one side and a large group of refugees on the other, my father identified himself as an American by yelling across the river a question about the 1944 World Series. A contingent of soldiers came across and formed a pathway for the escapees to come across the bridge. As an added sidebar to the story�my fathers bicycle blew a tire on the trip across the bridge. He is now 80 years old and I still marvel at his life's accomplishments!

Where is the news with all our fallen heroes? Never a mention of how the ROE are getting our soldiers killed because he has tied their hands.
