Tea party on life support after brutal primary beatdown
The Washington Times ^ | May 21,2014 | S.A. Miller

Support for the tea party has dropped to an all-time low, said a new CBS News poll released Wednesday. Just 15 percent of Americans told the pollsters that they are supporters of the tea party movement today, which is less than half the level of support at its peak of 31 percent in November 2010 shortly after the midterm election when the movement fueled a landslide Republican win to take majority control of the House.

It is disheartening.

Keep your chin up...it's a long march. The entrenched interests in DC are not going to give up their power until we rip it from their cold, dead hands.

People can talk about the "looming death of the Tea Party" all they want, but it's folks like you and me that are putting some steel in the spines of Boehner and McConnell.

Would there have been a Select Committee on Benghazi without the Tea Party?

I actually think part of the problem is that so many Tea Party, etc. groups seem to me to be in it for their founders’ promotion and enrichment.

I read an article here recently about the actual donation $ that get to a particular candidate. To a tee, all of the groups except “Club for Growth” seemed to have abnormally high expenses with little $ if any going to candidates.

McConnell may well lose to the RAT Grimes in November.

“I believe strongly that the Tea Party needs to come out strongly for American jobs. Now. Talk about it constantly. Rally people about the economy. We have sold out America for the entire last generation. The Tea Party can run very, very successfully on firing up Americans about American jobs. The dems aren’t doing it. The GOP isn’t doing it. Everyone is sending every American job they possibly can, out of America. Be for American jobs Tea Party. American jobs.”

Great point. You are correct.

um, no...
When they INCUMBANT has to spend $millions to KEEP HIS SEAT and still lost 40% of the vote, it sends a clear message.

Don’t tell me McDoofus was not sweating it out last night

So true, but that’s not the narrative the MSM wants to portray. They just want Tea Party RIP to be the accepted norm.

Terry Bowman would get my vote if I lived about 5 miles to the east.

Terry Bowman for Congress - Michigan's 12th Congressional District

Yes, he's a UAW member but he was also a big mover and shaker in favor of RTW in Michigan because he believes unions are driving jobs away.

Obama helped the GOP kill the Tea Party so now they will give him the Immigration scam . Now we know what Valerie Jarrett and Boehner’s deal is all about

You are right, Mr. K.

McConnell had to spend several times the amount of money Bevin had available, yet was only able to get about 60% of the vote. And this was despite the fact that McConnell has been in office for 30+ years, doling out taxpayer funded favors, and with 99% name recognition, while Bevin was unknown before the race and did not have access to the Chamber of Crony Capitalism money pits.

All in all, it is remarkable that any of the solid conservative/Tea Party candidates have won over the last 2 or 3 cycles. Each contest of conservative/Tea Party against Establishment is David vs. Goliath.

Certainly it is not easy to maintain momentum in a volunteer group, which spontaneously came together a few years ago. But there is no reason to despair. For 15% of the public to still identify with a group that challenges the unfortunate direction of the Federal Government, suggests real opportunity.

Hopefully, there will be a bit of a shakeout in leadership--not to run anyone off, but to allow those with the better aptitudes for waking others up, to come to the fore, and direct future efforts. Then, as in the past, the direction should be to increase the level of dedicated support for the Constitutional & economic heritage that we have been losing.

These temporary defeats should be taken as learning experiences; experiences, which faced in the right spirit, should teach how to run better campaigns--to do better jobs in explaining the important issues, and to more effectively respond to the false & fatuous arguments of those who would temporize, while America is being strangled.

I am not for “American jobs”. I know what that term usually means - government control of business. Protectionism in its many forms is not the answer. Now if you were to say you were opposed to government regulations then that is a different story. That would have the side effect of providing more jobs on US soil.

We will agree then to disagree, then.

I believe we are on the same page.

However the situation is going critical. America needs a whole lot more jobs, right away.

No more exporting American jobs. Bring them back. Bring back American jobs.

The wonderful, honest, loyal and true “tea partiers” were sadly unprepared for war from a government that does not resemble the one they learned about in school.

They are defeated.

The Tea Party is dead. Get ready for the Sons of Liberty.

For me, the tea parties were the convulsions of a dying Republic. You can’t put a convulsion on life support. And what of the dying Republic? Well, the convulsions are usually a sign that it’s too late.

tea party is an idea

Exactly. Those candidates who went for the "tea party" vote were given enough publicity and financing to be serious challengers. From there, it was up to them to not screw up and present a cohesive, convincing vision of what they see as the best future of the US. They lacked the instincts to move in on fast moving events such as federal over-reach at the Bundy ranch, the still absurd banking system that's destroying all but the elite financially, and to articulate how across the political spectrum the invasion of the US and cheap labor is costing US citizens jobs.

They can't whine. They know they have to be better and more convincing than the mainstream. The problem still is, I suspect, that these "tea party" candidates saw it as a path to get into office and then side with the RINO-globalist-corporate sponsors who are so generous to those who side with them.

In other words, a last ditch effort before things do get violent in order to win back freedom.
