I feel as well as can be expected for an old man. :-) The last few days have been cool with highs in the high 60s but today it was up to 85* again.

Sidenote: Written by Neil Young it was his first solo single, written while Buffalo Springfield was in its last throes. The widely held assumption is that the song was written about Stephen Stills, who covered the song on his 1976 album Illegal Stills. Nils Lofgren also covered the song on his tribute album The Loner - Nils Sings Neil in 2008.

Maybe Sunday, but technically they’re still doing traing stuff, although it is mostly cleanup right now. My son called me back and we were talking, then everybody started yelling. The fire had come up the crest behind them and could be seen from their back door. He said he would send me a picture. They are supposed to go back to their barracks at the north end, in fact right now. I’m so glad I saw the place before it burned. This is so sad. There’s a possibility they will have graduation Tuesday. We just have to wait and see.

Sidenote: Written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly and Harry M. Woods, and recorded initially in 1932 by the Ray Noble Orchestra with vocals by Val Rosing, it was also notably covered by both Ruth Etting and Bing Crosby in 1933. Since then, the song has been covered hundreds of times by the likes of Jimmy Durante, Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Rod Stewart, Frankie Laine, Percy Sledge, Earl Grant, Al Jarreau, Sheena Easton, Nina Simone, Etta James and Tina Turner to name a few. The most popular was an entirely new form recorded by soul artist Otis Redding in 1966. Redding was backed by Booker T. & the M.G.'s and Stax staff producer Isaac Hayes. Two years later, Three Dog Night adopted Redding's version for their debut album and the song peaked at #29 on the Billboard Top 100.
