FReeper maica, who often joined the DC Chapter at Walter Reed and on the National Mall to freep and counter anti-war protests, passed away Sunday, May 10, age 74.
Bravo Zulu, Mary, and may you Rest In Peace. Our prayers are with your loved ones.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
God Bless Mary and her family & Give her loved ones comfort.
Very sorry to learn of this.
I always enjoyed her visits to our FReeps.
Im very sorry. Rest in peace, maica.
Thank you and God Bless to her family and you.
Hear! Hear!
Rest in peace, God’s faithful servant.
Mary was my sister, the lady who introduced me to the sailing lifestyle in the Caribbean in the early 1970s. She was very adventurous, for example, becoming an accomplished SCUBA diver in her twenties during the 1960s, when very few women took up the new and “macho” sport.
We all loved her dearly, but are happy to know that she is in a better place now. I was fortunate to have had the chance during her final wek to thank her for setting me upon my life-long course of ocean sailing.
Now I’m back in the islands at anchor, with a very shaky connection, but I felt the need to say something about her, and the deep impact she has had on my life from sailing aboard her 33-foot sloop Maica in 1973, until the present time.

A life well lived. Rest well maica, you earned it.

*sigh*...

Prayer for the family and friends.
Fare thee well Patriot. We will meet on the other side.
Rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy and condolences. Mary loved all her family so very much. FReepmail for you, Travis McGee.
My heartfelt condolences. I do believe I met her at a Walter Reed Freep...
If she spent time with that group, that is a testament to her character.
