My guess is that Rep. Gowdy took the job because he believes that there is something there

The Benghazi hearings carry political risks and rewards for both sides:

1) The GOP has to put new facts on the table, as Charles Krauthammer indicated.    The hearings will get old very fast unless there are new revelations about what happened that night; and,

2) The Democrats cannot minimize that 4 Americans, including the first US Ambassador since 1979, were killed.

Rep. Gowdy's selection confirms my suspicions that there is "something there".    I don't think that he would have accepted the job unless he felt that there was something to investigate.

Under Rep. Gowdy's leadership, the committee will subpoena people who will answer under oath some of the questions still unanswered, especially about then-Ambassador Rice and the video.

This is a perfect example of RAT oblivion. The dereliction of duty and malfeasance and MURDER and RAPE of our Ambassador and killing of our SEALS is what enrages us and Trey Gowdy.

Trey is going to burn your RAT house down.

I think we may have found the Cruz/Palin administration’s attorney general.

Trey is going to burn your RAT house down. Not as long as Boner is Speaker of the House.

Wrong. His house is already on fire, he may lose to his Democratic opponent in November.

What is going to happen to those called who refuse to testify?

If he doesn’t have the authority to lock them up, this will go nowhere fast. Boner sure as heck isn’t going to put the hammer on anyone. Boner’s treatment of Lerner did nothing but tell the Dems they do as they please with no repercussions.

If I read it correctly, State is already making noises that suggest to me Kerry isn’t going to testify.

Priceless name recognition exposure to rep. Gowdy as chairman of Select Committe. He should milk it for all it’s worth. You are looking at a future presidential candidate. IMO he is a better speaker than any republican right now. He does his home work, remembers every detail and delivers it extremely effectively.

Gowdy said to Greta last Friday that he “has evidence of a systematic, intentional effort by the Obama regime to withhold documents from Congress, in the investigation of the Benghazi terrorist attacks.”

He wouldn’t say that if he didn’t have the evidence.

Frankly, I don't know whether his appointment indicates there's something there. I think more likely his appointment means that as a former prosecutor, with prosecutor's instincts, who's been involved with this fiasco since the beginning, that he is fed up with the stonewalling and deception. He wants to find out if there is anything there, because it sure as hell looks like there is, but nobody has had the stones to start subpoenaing witnesses and putting them on the spot. The fact that Hillary was able to get away with throwing her little hissy fit is a disgrace. She needs to be put under oath, and if she tries that stunt again she needs to be challenged directly.

It's just a shame we don't have anyone else of his caliber to run a select committee to investigate the IRS, because very clearly there is evidence that that department was used for political purposes in clear violation of the law.

Who's gonna lose to their Democrat opponent ? Boehner ? Boehner has almost $13 million dollars so far. His Dem opponent has $40k. That's nothing.

The responding SEALs were highly experienced and on that roof would have known that using a target designator would bring them under an additional level of physical risk as events unfolded.

**WHY** were they using it...?

Did someone from our side TRY to get them killed...?

Were they led to believe aircraft were minutes from arrival on scene..?

If one of our own made statements with the goal of getting them killed then WHY..?

You are 100% correct. There is no other prosecutor background republican of Gowdy’s effectiveness out there.

Boehner will do just fine in his district. He will retire before he loses election in his district.

It's a shame, too, because the IRS issue resonates with a lot more people then Americans killed overseas -- even if their deaths were the result of negligence or even deliberation. Sad, but true.

High level officials at the IRS -- not just Lerner -- obviously were engaged in a number of hyper-partisan activities and the targeting of the President's political enemies. Those felonies, by all accounts, continue to go on even now, and despite Zero's promises to "get to the bottom of it" no one has even lost a job or a benefit because of this criminality.

Boehner has indicated he has no intention of applying any teeth to his contempt citation, so with Holder's people, we're obviously back in "no controlling legal authority" territory once more.
