Shelly Sterling defended her right to hold onto her stake in the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, telling NBC’s Savannah Guthrie it's sexist for the NBA to punish her for the actions of her husband, who she claimed suffers from dementia.
The Clippers have been operating under a cloud in the weeks since the celebrity website TMZ released an audio recording in which Donald Sterling, 80, told frequent court-side guest V. Stiviano that he did not want to see her at games with black people. Days later, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver fined Sterling $2.5 million, banned him for life from the league and began a drive to get at least three-fourths of team owners to separate the Clippers boss from the franchise.
Shelly Sterling, however, has made it clear she wants to keep her 50% stake in the team, and told Guthrie in an interview that aired Tuesday on the "Today" show that it was sexist of the league to also force her to sell.

I’m with Shelley on this one. She works hard, though she has enough money to do nothing but spend it. She’s put up with a cheating husband for decades. She seems to be a straight up straightforward businesswoman. She deserves to get PAID.

Shelly Sterling is in position to be a prominent NBA owner. Women are an underrepresented group among owners of major league sports teams. How can they justify revoking her ownership rights because of her husband?
Women are considered a special protected class per political correctness. Thus, it makes perfect sense to accuse the NBA of sexism if they try to force a sale of the Clippers. This should be fun to watch.
This kind of reminds me of the old George Carlin routine.
He is doing his nightly news skit and says the following:
The U.N. today came out with a resolution equating Zionism with Racism. When reached, comedian Sammy Davis, Jr. said ‘what a breakthrough, now I can hate myself!’.
They are nicer than I am. At 81 years old and with plenty of money I would burn this asset to the ground for spite.
This is just age discrimination. They are just trying to toss an old guy out and replace him with someone younger.
It will be even more interesting to see how the players react. They aren't exactly known for being enlightened about the role of women. Kobe Bryant, anyone?
This is great. Apparently the NBA and the media is uninterested in this guy’s treatment of his wife and marriage. Cheating on your wife I suppose is perfectly okay by the NBA.
But our most cherished institutions are being run by lunatics. Of course there are wonderful people throughout the land - but they are truly the silent majority.
She should convert to Islam.
