It happened in Savannah, but hasn’t been reported there very much.

SAVANNAH, GA - Police in Savannah are investigating an Atlanta family’s claims that they were attacked by a group of people on River Street in downtown Savannah Saturday night. The family claims when they said something to a man and woman who walked into them, they were then attacked by several individuals in front of their kids.In an interview with Atlanta TV station WSB, the victims claimed that they were attacked by a “mob” of people and that even women and children were attacked, including a 6-year old girl who was punched in the stomach. “This was a violent, malicious attack on a family of eight people,” one of the victims told the station. One of the men had an obvious black eye in a picture posted on WSB's website.
The fight reportedly occurred in front of Wet Willies on River Street. The reporting officer said the victim "advised that he and his family were walking when a black couple forced their way through his family. He then noted that when they said something to them about it; little words were exchanged and the black male started attacking them. Several more black people joined the assault from the opposite direction. The victim advised he was held down and punched in the eye." The officer also noted that he smelled an odor of alcohol on both family members he interviewed and that when one appeared to be getting upset again about the incident he refrained from interviewing him further.
The family also claims that police were slow to respond. SCMPD told WSAV that they are looking at Surveillance video from the area in hopes of learning more about what actually happened.

Curious to note in this case would be that if one of the persons were “carrying”, they would likely have not made an issue of being “bullied”, knowing they had the upper-hand in any confrontation.
This beat-down would not have happened because the CCW holder would not have made an issue of it. Correspondingly, the thugs would have “gotten away” with being jackasses and bullies.
On a personal note, I’ve been bullied in the same way (”push through intimidation”) and commented out loud that the person was a “jerk”. The thug spun on me and asked, “Did you just call me a nigger?”
My reply was, “No. Mr. Glock and I called you a “jerk”. The situation quickly changed.
