Blessed is the man that trusts in the Lord,and whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters,
that spreads out its roots by the river,
and shall not fear when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green;
and shall not be anxious in the year of drought,
neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8

Holy God,
Truly we love You, Lord, our strength; for You are our rock, and our fortress, our deliverer. You are our God, in Whom we will trust. We call upon You, Lord, for You are worthy to be praised. So shall we be saved from our enemies. How grateful we are that our Lord lives, and blessed are You, our Rock. May the God of our salvation be exalted.
Father, we pray that our military men and women would trust in You and place their hope in You. Then they shall be as trees planted by the waters, whose roots go deep by the river. They will not fear when heat or drought come, for they will be rooted and grounded in Your love and refreshing. Father, we pray that You gird them with strength for the battles and subdue under them any who rise up against them.
Precious Lord, we ask for You to send messengers of the Gospel to Your people Israel, and that her land would prosper. May her borders be secure, and may Your people throughout the world bless her.
Thank You, Lord, for our country. We ask for You to lead us to repentance and to help us to return to the center of Your will. Father, all our woes are caused by our turning away from You. Help us to return to You, Father, for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
Be exalted, O God, in Your own strength, and may we sing and praise Your power, both now and evermore. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE "Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Words To Live By
May 12, 2014
Read: Deuteronomy 4:1-9
For many years Ive maintained a file folder labeled Speaking. It has become thick with articles, quotations, and illustrations that might be useful. Recently I went through it to discard things that are out of date. I found it difficult to throw away many of the items, not because I havent used them in a talk but because I havent put them into practice. I closed the folder thinking, These arent words to talk about; these are words to live by.
After 40 years in the desert, Moses addressed the people poised to enter the Promised Land: Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you (Deut. 4:1). Moses repeated theme (vv.1,2,5,6,9) is that Gods commandments are to be kept. He said it well, Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments . . . that you should act according to them (v.5).
It is so easy to talk about doing more than we actually do and to speak about truth were not living by. We can become bloated with words, yet starved for reality, forgetting that all of Gods commands flow from His heart of love for us.
Help us, Lord, not to be just hearers of the Word;
help us to be doers as well. Teach us to be honest
with ourselves about who we really are. We want
to walk in Your ways and to guide others to You.
The strength of our actions should match the strength of our words.
Far from being a burden, the commands God gave to the Israelites were life-giving. They outlined a life lived in response to His love. In todays text, Moses reminded the Israelites that the commands were for their wisdom and understanding (v.6). The result of living by the words of the Lord would be that the nations around them would recognize the one true God (vv.7-8).
