HEARNE, Texas (AP) Officials in a small Central Texas town voted Saturday to fire a police officer who shot and killed an armed 93-year-old woman during a confrontation at her home.
The city council's unanimous vote to dismiss Officer Stephen Stem came after a meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes, KBTX-TV reported.

Please quit shooting us.
Ice Tea
I used to hate Ice Tea, and I really do hate all that music, but you know what..?
NOW I UNDERSTAND.
Now prosecute.
He may end up owning that town.
That was the second person the officer shot in his two years on the force.
He was fired after he fired?
And he was promptly rehired by DHS.
“He was fired after he fired?”
Yea...city council figured tried give it a shot. No telling what it’ll lead to. Just a shell game now. Cop’ll probably claim wrongful termination.
And execute.
tried = they’d
Progressive Liberal mentality has ruined our Country.. Our excitable dogs and elderly relatives with dementia are no longer safe around fearful, trigger happy police officers.
next time a black person waves around a loaded gun, the police will think twice about shooting.
oh, crap, I hope its a white guy with a gun if I ever get jacked, just so the police don’t hesitate to protect me.
In all honesty, 93 years old or not, whatever this cop’s record, the lady did fire first (if the reports are to be believed). If a person shoots at you, you have the right to defend yourself.
Her nephew - who called the police - said she was enraged because she failed the driving test at the DMV. When she got home, she took out her gun and began threating to kill him (the nephew) and he called the police.
He says she fired two shots at the cops before they fired at her.
So let’s get a grip and wait for the investigation to be over. A 93 year old can kill you as much as anybody else can. We had an incident here where a crazy old lady in her 90s blew away the grand-nephew who was caring for her, a wonderful man who had a great family and worked for the local college. She was just nuts and got annoyed about something. He called the police but it was too late and he was dead when they got there.
Just because she was old didn’t mean she couldn’t have killed the nephew, the cops or anybody she fired on.
Ice tea is one of the good guys from what I remember.
I saw one report where she got off a couple of shots first. It will be interesting to see which story proves out.
I understand what youre saying and there was a time I had faith in an investigation but the police are doing the investigation and I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them all.
She was carrying the gun and had threatened to shoot her son unless he returned her car keys. When the officer told her to drop the gun she fired twice into the ground before the officer fired at her. He could have used a taser instead.
