VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Francis called Friday for governments to redistribute wealth to the poor in a new spirit of generosity to help curb the "economy of exclusion" that is taking hold today.
Francis made the appeal during a speech to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of major U.N. agencies who met in Rome this week.
Latin America's first pope has frequently lashed out at the injustices of capitalism and the global economic system that excludes so much of humanity, though his predecessors have voiced similar concerns.
On Friday, Francis called for the United Nations to promote a "worldwide ethical mobilization" of solidarity with the poor in a new spirit of generosity.

I guess the Vatican guard is going to become the UN IRS?
How about redistribution of the Catholic churches wealth 1st!!
One can get wealth redistributed to oneself by getting one’s dead ass and getting a job!!!
It sounds as though he isn’t familiar with oxymorons.
As a loyal and faithful Catholic, I do not think popes are “infallible”. ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!
I’m tired of his Marxist pronouncements. Cannot distinguish between him and BHO when it comes to economic policy.
There should be an”off” in there!!!
This pope can suck it. What a hypocritical bag of feces.
I think this Pope just stepped on his you know what!
Which is exactly how all "redistribution" schemes work out.
thanks,figured that out
I love Pope Francis. Seriously. He is the best thing that has happened to Catholicism since Pope (now Saint) John Paul II.
Pope Francis will be happy to know we in the US are well on our way of redistributing all our wealth to the less wealthy through a number of well intentioned social programs.
The programs are funded in large part by those Christian loving Chinese, are making us a nation of lazy dependents and will ultimately bankrupt the Country. Then, there will be no more wealth to redistribute. Other than that, it is all good.
It appears satan’s consistent influence has made it’s way to the top.

Seriously? Are you kidding me?
If the Pope ever gets tired of running the Catholic Church; he’d be damn good at running the Democratic National Committee.
Reagan had JP2 and Maggie and took down the Soviets. We have Obama and Francis and Fidel, and the Soviets will take us down.
The dogma of papal infallibility only applies when the Pope makes a pronouncement on Church doctrine.
This isn't Church doctrine. This is a brain-fart that was verbally expressed.
Before the Pope haters pile on, this is inline with the best traditions of Christian capitalism. Redistributing wealth to the poor through "generosity" is called charity and it worked really well in this country before cradle-to-grave entitlements came along, paid for with back-breaking tax burdens that take away the ability of families to help to the truly needed.
The first post-Christian Pope.
Totally clueless
“Seriously”
I think this thread may prove that of the mark, way off.
“Demands”? Journalists have free rein to just make stuff up. Nice job to have.
