Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney on Thursday morning said he supports an increase in the minimum wage, breaking with many Republicans who have stood against it.
I, for instance, as you know, part company with many of the conservatives in my party on the issue of the minimum wage. I think we ought to raise it, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee said. Because frankly, our party is all about more jobs and better pay.
Romneys comments come after Senate Republicans rejected a vote on a Senate bill that would have increased the minimum wage to $10.10. Recently, though, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, both of whom also ran for the Republican nomination in 2012, said they supported some increase in the minimum wage.
In a wide-ranging interview Thursday on Morning Joe, Romney again reiterated that he isnt running for president, mentioned some of his favorite potential GOP presidential candidates in 2016 and criticized Hillary Clintons record as secretary of State.

He’s running again.
It is incredible that a man who has made so much money in business doesn’t understand (or pretends he doesn’t) the principle elements of how our economic system works.
Yep, indistinguishable from Ubama.
Dare I say they are members of the same party?
The Uniparty?
The Party of Government.
I can think of few issues that are better served at the state level. If you think there ought to be a minimum wage, you should concede that to meet its purpose it must be different in New York than it is in Mississippi.
HOW ABOUT LOWERING TAXES?!
I used to say “the lesser of two evils is still evil”I have changed that lately to saying it looks now like our choices are “voting for the leper with the most fingers remaining” The only problem being is that leprosy is a fatal disease as is big governmentititis and it will kill the Republic.

Mitt is such a good business man, yea right.
LOL! Love the comparison! Dewey was probably the only Republican who could lose to Truman in 1948.
Tom Dewey ah yes! Remember the Chicago Tribune, was just a kid then, (when it was owned by Col Robert McCormick) and the editorial about “Me too” Republicans....That still stands up today .
The last time out he offended enough people that he lost the election. While his 47% statement may be true, statements like that turned off some people who may have been inclined to vote for him.
If he runs this time he will seem more conciliatory to only some issues so as to woo those voters.
He knows the effects of a raise in minimum wage, but getting elected is the goal.
I agree it should be a state matter, the federal minimum wage is a floor not a ceiling.
Mitt, you part company with many of the party’s conservatives because you are a liberal sack of sh*t. Your inept, bungling campaign assured Obama of a second term, so the least you could do for the rest of us is STFU.
Mitt is still lying about RomneyCARE.
How wonderful it was after HE created it.
The Press play it up, but the docs vanished
as the rates skyrocketed.
And his attack on the clerks of Massachusetts now
has created polygamy. As many predicted of him.
He has suggested previously, RomneyCARE for Hezbollah.
..and .and .and Rickie Santorum is RIGHT THERE WITH HIM on the minimum wage. More proof RS is a pro life liberal.
“Hes running again.”
The discussion can be stopped because you’ve said all that needs to be said.
Nervous Nelly is running again, and once again he’s trying to “out democrat” the democrats.
I’ve got a better idea Mitt, lets tax all existing wealth over a million at a one time 50% and use it to pay off the debt. You clowns like that idea?
I knew he was running when the chess pieces started to fall into place quietly.
When Terri Land left her RNC seat to run for the senate seat, Mitt Romney’s niece was appointed to replace her.
You can’t fix stupid.
