Retiring Reps. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) and Dave Camp (R-Mich.) may back Rep. Justin Amash's (R-Mich.) primary opponent, and none of the rest of the Michigan delegation is supporting Amash, according to the Detroit News.
Rogers, a longtime Amash foe, told the paper that he's "likely" to support businessman Brian Ellis, while Camp said he was also open to backing Ellis in the race.

Walberg was always a popular figure with the Conservative base and Schauer couldn’t even muster a majority of the vote in his single victory in 2008. Tons of $$ wasn’t going to save him, but it would’ve been worse if hadn’t outraised Walberg as the sitting incumbent.
This is a different situation with Bentivolio, who merely lucked out by having decided to run against McCotter when he happened to be disqualified. Bentivolio, as the incumbent, should’ve outraised both Trotter and Kumar (Kumar at the very least) by now (as Schauer did). This is troublesome.
Bentivolio is the one Paulistinian who apparently can’t raise money for his campaign. That means that he’s a loose cannon who will come out in favor of legalizing heroin the second that L. Ron gives the word, will do nothing as Iran builds a nuclear arsenal, and *won’t even be able to avoid getting outspent by the Democrat*. Bentivolio fell ass-backwards into the House seat, getting the nomination because he was the only name on the ballot after McCotter imploded (no way would he have defeated Cassis had her name been on the ballot), and winning the general in the redrawn MI-11 largely because the RATs nominated a Muslim nobody because all potential first-tier and second-tier Democrats were scared off by McCotter having filed for reelection; as has been mentioned, Bentivolio lost the special election under the old lines to some nobody who at least didn’t have a Pakistani name.
Trotter is a conservative who takes the election seriously and will neither put the seat at risk nor cast loony Paultard votes once elected. That’s why Trotter will win the nomination. The Paulbots can still look to Rand and Massie in KY and, assuming that he survives his own difficult primary, Amash in MI-03, to lead the way before the next visit by the Hale-Bopp Comet or whatever it is that Ronulans are waiting for.

Yet, here on the Michigan thread, they argue the opposite: how DARE ANYONE challenge Justin Amash!! That is UNACCEPTABLE! Why, he SAYS he's one of us, therefore we MUST support him for another term!! Another candidate with an R next to his name has the audacity to challenge the tea party savior, therefore he MUST be RINO scum and a John Boehner suckup.
The mental gymnastics these freepers must make their in heads to justify their OWN position is astonishing. I thought all "career politicians" are evil and we need more "businessmen" from the "private sector" to take on incumbents? Brian Ellis is exactly the kind of candidate they're begging to take on far more conservative incumbents than Amash.
Over the last four years, I've found myself identifying with the "Tea Party" mentality less and less. If some deranged Paulbot who votes with Nancy Pelosi for "constitutional reasons" is our savior, where a Senator (Pat Roberts) who one of the most dependable Ted Cruz allies "needs to go", then I'm sorry, I'm not a Tea Partier, I will do everything I can to stop their side from causing any more damage.
The guy they’re pimping to run against Bentivolio.

Not a word about immigration, border control or rampant cronyism. Mushy support for the 2nd amendment with the typical “law abiding citizens” classifier. No absolute opposition to abortion.
May I be allowed to interject I’m not overwhelmingly in favor of either of the lead candidates in that district ? Saying that, since when are Paul-aligned candidates particularly concerned about immigration/border control ? I don’t trust them whatsoever on that subject.
Kerry Bentivolio have been very vocal about the need for strong border control due to millions of Americans out of work. He’s a jr member of the committee that investigated the Brian Terry fast and furious murder, Plus has actually met the Terry parents unlike their on congressman (John Dingell) He’s also particularly strong on regulatory reform. He’s a vocal opponent to common core and wants to repeal Obamacare. Michigan Right to Life endorsed him a week or so back.
That gender selection bill was a sad stunt. I am 100% pro-life, but I hated it. It wouldn’t have saved a single life, plus it implies that abortion is OK in most circumstances. It isn’t. It’s murder.
That was a bad bill. Amash has nothing to apologize for there.
OK. But you know he has got to up his game on the fundraising or he will be vulnerable to wealthier establishment R’s challenging him.
I had barely introduced myself as a DREAMer, someone brought to the U.S. illegally as a child, when Congressman Bentivolio, still standing, put his finger in my face and said, So youre an illegal! Your parents broke the law! Our attempt at dialogue went downhill from there.

Keep in mind this “Dreamer” was an adult.
“Sergio Martinez, a restaurant manager from Detroit, works with Michigan United”
Paul Broun sometimes votes against bills like that.
I was a pro-life Libertarian. I left because I strongly disagreed on the position of pro-choice. I never saw how the innocent life shouldn’t be protected.
I also disagreed on leaving Iran free to develop a nuke.
Lastly opposed open border positions.
Finally made the break.
The Paulbots other savior, Rand “elect me because my daddy is your idol” Paul, has already come out in favor of amnesty. His fan club here has simply opted to ignore it and look the other ward. Will they do the same if Amash votes for amnesty? I’m betting yes.

Nothing is stopping Iran from doing anything anyway. (Aside from maybe Israel)
Sanctions are little more than a means of eliminating competition for cronies who get waivers. More than 10,000 from the state department alone since 2007. Lord only knows how many waivers the UN has given out.
There has to be another way because sanctions simply aren’t getting the job done. Would have been more effective if the idiot currently in the white house had supported the pro freedom uprising a couple years back.
Bentivolio aside, Amash has got to go. His defense of Ahmahnutjob in Iran from McCain’s little jab has got to be the most bizarre behavior I’ve ever seen in a GOP Congressman as of late (weirder than “Sinn Fein Pete” King). It almost ties the creepy anti-Semite, ex-IL Rep. Paul Findley, who boasted of being Arafat’s bestie in Congress. I wrote to him back in the ‘90s and he sent me a bunch of anti-Zionist literature (which I did not ask for).
I haven’t paid nearly as much attention to Amash as I have Bentivolio. I expect crap votes out of every last one of them at some point as long as they don’t make a habit of it.
I also think 4 terms as a rep or 2 terms as a senator is plenty. I’ve already told my congressman that he gets 2 more years and he needs to go and I like my congressman.
