WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican National Committee wants to take more control over how the party picks a White House nominee.
The RNC was to meet Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, to choose members who will effectively set the calendar for 2016's long list of potential presidential contenders. If the party's chairman, Reince Priebus gets his way, the GOP will pick its nominee more quickly than during past contests and have fewer debates in which candidates could criticize each other.
The RNC also was expected to put penalties in place for candidates who don't follow the committee's plans.
RNC officials described the agenda ahead of the three-day meeting. The officials insisted on anonymity because the entire 168-member central party had not yet been briefed on the proposal.

The CoC is determined to have one of their own s the standard bearer.
Where is our Reagan?
Ooh. I sure hope they pick us a winner! </sarc>
OK, call me crazy but I would rather see Romney than Bush. At least Romney stated some anti-illegals positions.
The rest of the GOP is FIRMLY in the camp of Amnesty.
Every piece is being fit into place to make the Republican Party irrelevant in 2016 and beyond. There will be a split between establishment oriented businesses and politicians and Constitutionalists that will never be bridged. Eventually the Crony Capitalists and entitlement Republicans will merge with the progressives setting up authoritarian centralized government. Property rights will slip away first as they are already almost gone. Communications will be increasingly controlled. Meaningless Facebook and Twitter babble will be either pro regime or interpersonal.
My state GOP primary is again scheduled for late May. As with previous years (2008 and 2012), the nominee was determined weeks before my state primary. That rendered any state results as meaningless.
The one advantage is that I don’t have to endorse any of the contenders and can objectively throw mud at all of them.
If 2016 gives us a Christie or Bush or any of a bunch of other contenders, it won’t make any difference, as the Dem, regardless of who they nominate, will win again.
I smell a four letter word that starts with a “R”.
The democrats have proposed the following for their process.
... The Iowa caucuses will take place on February 1, the New Hampshire primary will
be on February 9, the Nevada caucuses will be held February 20 and the South
Carolina primary will be Feb. 27. All other states will have to wait until March 1
and can hold their primary or caucus through June 14th.

The RNC is providing for ‘carve outs’ in Feb. 2016. Dates, etc are being decided today.
We can trust them. They know best. Just pay and obey. /sarc
They really want to tick off their base
>> So instead of pushing back on the actual enemy, the Democrats and mediots who control the debates, they want to shut out their own base......
To the Progressives of the RepubliCrat Party, WE are the enemy for failure to get with the program.
There’s something that says the words “central committee” shouldn’t be used with the so-called conservative party.
Its My Party
With apologies to Artist: Lesley Gore
Nobody knows where my voters have gone
Sarah left the same time
Why were they holding her hand
When they’re supposed to be mine
It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you
Playin’ my records, keep dancin’ all night
Leave me alone for a while
‘Till the voters are dancin’ with me
I’ve got no reason to smile
It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you
——— LEAD BREAK ———
Sarah and Ted Cruz just walked through the door
Like a queen with her king
Oh what a birthday surprise
Sarah’s winnin’t his thing!
It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you
Actually some of the ideas aren’t too bad. There were too many debates last time, for instance.
What I don’t agree with is the RNC setting the debate topics for all debates.
It would also be nice if, for at least one debate, there could be an actual neutral moderator. I know, I’m dreaming.
They did a great job with Dole, McCain, and Romney, all of whom came in a close second.
I’m laughing at the absolute BLINDNESS of so many Conservatives who refuse to see the fact that we have gone Soviet, and we no longer have a voice in deciding who our rulers are going to be.
If we believe it is IMPOSSIBLE to fix the Federal Beast in Washington from the inside, why do Conservatives believe that they can ‘fix’ the GOP from the inside???
You are dealing with the Ruling Class nobility you stupid serfs! Learn your place!
But hardly anyone had an appetite to make a go of it with another party. Now it's all but too late, unless the Palins, Cruzes, Lees, etc., cut ties with the Republican party and lead the charge. But they never did and likely will not now.
And they wonder why the conservative base is keen to stay home on election night.
McCain Jeb vs. Obama Hillary
Same chit different election.
It's like these con artists who preach in these "megachurches." It's not about truth or righteousness. It's about money. Just like in the RNC.
Good luck with that Reince.
