The Republican establishment gloated after three underfunded Tea Party challengers failed to knock off incumbent Republicans in primaries on Tuesday while another establishment-backed candidate secured the GOP nomination for Senate in North Carolina.
"Next up is that fraud @MattBevin! #GOP, tweeted Jahan Wilcox, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who is now the RNC's director of rapid response. (He later deleted it and said his thoughts were his personal opinions.)
Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) defeated her primary challenger Frank Roche despite a series of high-profile outbursts in support of amnesty. Ellmers was heavily backed by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg's FWD.us group.
Folks should be talking more about Ellmers, tweeted Becky Tallent, a senior aide to Speaker John Boehner who formerly served as one of Sen. John McCain's top amnesty lieutenants.
Boehner (R-OH) unsurprisingly coasted to victory against challenger J.D Winteregg. In response, Ana Navarro, the Jeb Bush ally, promptly tweeted,"Congratulations to @johnboehner on decisive primary win. Rumors of his demise were greatly exagerated....who's crying now?"
Ohio freshman Rep. David Joyce defeated Matt Lynch, who was endorsed by FreedomWorks and Ron Paul, which prompted Brian Walsh, the former NRSC director of communications who still advises the group, to tweet, "BOOM."
In the night's main event, Tillis avoided what would have been a costly runoff to win the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate by securing more than 40% of the vote. He will take on vulnerable incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) in the fall. Tillis defeated Greg Brannon -- who was backed by FreedomWorks, Rand Paul, the Senate Conservatives Fund, and nearly every local Tea Party group -- and Mark Harris -- who received the support of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Meanwhile, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Chamber of Commerce, and American Crossroads backed Tillis for the win.

The RINOs stick together...
I was just thinking yesterday, I remember how the Republican establishment gloated when Charlie Crist knocked off his conservative primary challenger for the gov of FL.
I mean, they GLOATED. And he was such a creep, so obvious!
And when he turned out to be a soulless sellout, I gloated - but I also cried. Because people DO get the government they deserve, ultimately, and they drag me along with them.
We had a local election here in FL recently where they had a Republican candidate my pastor knew personally and said he could NEVER vote for. In a strong Republican district he lost and the GOP professed to be confused, because he had such a “stellar” record. But he didn’t. He was that classic person with connections that the GOP thinks they can shove on us, and are able to often enough so they keep trying.
Frankly, IMHO, if they lost every election with one of their RINOS I think they would continue to run them, because they would rather have Democrats in than real reformers. The Powerful Protect the Powerful.
The Secret Real Motto of the GOP - Death to REAL Reform.
Oh yeah! That's JUST what we need. Another purge after the very first series of primaries. Good grief.
With far left friends like that...
The two party scam is exposed for all but the LIV-iest to see.
“Anyone else sick of sharing this party with Karl Rove?”
And Mitt Romney, JEB Bush and the Chamber of Commerce, which is allied with the service unions. Not just sick: sick and tired of putting up with them.
Probably not. Because gun control and no raise in taxes have already passed, those whose main issues are the invasion of the US and less global and federal control over our lives don't control a majority of the party.
Privacy issues, too much federal regulation, the invasion of the US, and the end of global war mongering are the issues still on the table. People who've been defined as tea party aren't campaigning that way.
Brannon was a mess.
If Bevin loses, McConnell will lose in November.
And that’s a good thing for now. Because the Tea Party conservatives will still be standing for 2016 whereas the GOPe will be taken down.
No way Jeb Bush wins in 2016.
It may take longer to get the democrat infiltrators out of the republican party, but in time it will happen and it must happen. That is where the true battle lies, against the D’s with the R’s by their names.
Here’s how this plays:
Democrats: “We have perfected voter fraud!”
Republicans: “We will investigate and bust you!.... unless, of course, we can work together.”
Democrats: “You put up candidates we like, we will make sure they get through the primary.”
Republicans: “Deal!”
I am remembering a conversation I had with a legal immigrant from Russia this a.m. He and his family’s background was of the religion most moslems attack. He spent many years in obtaining permission for his family to leave Russia. The most memorable part of the conversation am recalling this a.m. was where he stated, “Every man, woman, and child receives the government they deserve.” He went on to say he came to America because for he and his family America offered the best hope of all nations for a time of peace. Our conversation was twenty-five years ago and over the years we have remained in touch with one another. Today my friend is not as happy as once was to be an American citizen but to quote him, he says only this ... “There is no place to run. America is this world’s best prayer for peace. Now I sit and can only pray for this has become, nothing of what once was.”
How so?
Ok. They all fought a good fight. Now let’s all work together to defeat the real enemy in this fight, the liberal democrats.
Another disappointment.
I also favor closed primaries, but I would think that in open primaries the dimrats would cross over and vote for the tea party candidate thinking that he or she would be easier to defeat in the general.
Why would a dimrat vote for a republican incumbent unless he was really tainted ?
Watch out. That kind of overconfidence can be very destructive.
This is a conservative site, not a Republican one, but the Republibots have always been around. Thee people would vote for Joe Stalin if he had an R after his name.
What do you mean? What’s in their past?
Or is this more RINObot posting?
