U.S. recognizes Al Qaeda in Syria.
The exact same guys who were murdering our boys in Iraq.
The exact same Al Qaeda in Syria to whom Benghazi arms flowed with the CIA’s help.
My thoughts exactly. Next up for Al Qaeda is the U.N. with Obama as the official sponsor.
Let’s put it slightly differently to account for nuances on the ground:
ANY support sent to Syria is co-opted into Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda and other allied Islamists are the core of Assad’s opponents. They can control essentially everything outside of Assad’s patch.
Recognizing (or sending arms to) any of Assad’s opponents supports Al Qaeda indirectly, and KNOWINGLY.
This guy is now implementing stupid on top of stupid on top of stupid.
It’s been a struggle to figure out which side is worse, but after several years it’s clear that Assad is the lesser of two evils in Syria
