The United States has said it will recognise the offices of the main opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC) as a diplomatic foreign mission and announced plans for a $27m increase in non-lethal assistance to rebels fighting to oust President Bashar al-Assad.
The announcement came at the start of a visit to Washington on Monday by a Syrian opposition delegation led by Ahmad Jarba, president of the coalition, in his first official visit to the US since the SNC was set up in 2012.
Jarba is set to meet US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday.
State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said Washington was announcing new measures "to empower the moderate Syrian opposition and to bolster its efforts to help" those in Syria.
The US now recognises the coalition's representative offices in Washington and New York as "foreign missions under the Foreign Missions Act."
The upgrade will facilitate banking and security services for the opposition in the US and help it reach out to Syrians living in the US, Harf said. . .

I think we’ve come to the place where commentators and opposition pols are just cashing in on complaining about our “tyrannical government”. If they’re tyrannical, the founders, the writer of the constitution told us what to do. Constitutional convention? Wrong. Vote in new leadership? Wrong.
We have overt treason, naked tyranny, and religious oppression. They make no attempt to hide it. They’re completely secure in their position and will not be reformed by phone calls and primaries. There’s been a revolution, they’ve thwarted every attempt to passively reign them in. Someone tell me I’m wrong.
al Qaeda bombed and killed Americans, over and over.
No wonder the EXEMPT US Congress fawns over them,
wishing their stupid taxpaying, Constitution-supporting
constituents had a single neck.
.
I don’t necessarily disagree with your thoughts there. It’s my opinion that if folks stood up to them, they would unleash the military on us without any of the rules of engagement typified by the Afghan theater.
I have always thought of the United States as the last big test on planet earth, could man govern himself in a Christian manner without corruption and ultimately out of control sin?
No.
The verdict is in.
....At AIMs second conference on Benghazi, held at the National Press Club on April 22, retired Admiral James Ace Lyons stated openly what many have been talking about privatelythat the transformation of U.S. policy from opposing to supporting al Qaeda can only be understood in terms of Muslim Brotherhood penetration into every national security agency of this government, and their carte blanche entry into the [Obama] White House
Yes! Al Qaeda is our friend! They are our ally! That way, when Hillary and Obama were aiding and abetting Al Qaeda, they weren’t committing treason. Sure, Al Qaeda flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and murdered over 3,000 mostly civilian Americans, but can’t we all just get along? Especially if it enriches the Democrats?
Citizens Commission on Benghazi claims Americas refusal to negotiate a peaceful transition of power in Libya in 2011 led to the attack that killed four Americans a year later
...The 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans might never have happened if the U.S. government hadnt facilitated a flow of $500 million worth of weapons into the hands of al-Qaeda-linked rebels during Libyas 2011 revolution, according to interim findings released this week by the Citizens Commission on Benghazi.
The deeper you get, the dirtier it gets, said retired Navy Adm. Chuck Kubic
... Qatar, under pressure from the Arab League, is said to have expelled the Muslim Brotherhood
All is not lost.
In one of his BS books he stated he would support Muslims politically when he can.
I will take that under advisement. If we got a truly dedicated man in there with a real fire the belly and true Conservatism at his core, it could go a long way.
He would need a House and Senate unlike what we have now. I don’t think a Conservative could pass the right things today over the objections of a Republican House and Senate.
We’ve got some very serious issues...
Thanks for link.
This is a huge clue as to why 0bastard is siding with neo Nazis in Ukraine.
Russia is fighting against AQ in Syria.
The US now recognises the coalition’s representative offices in Washington and New York as “foreign missions under the Foreign Missions Act.”
The upgrade will facilitate banking and security services for the opposition in the US
So our tax money will go from us to them to the DNC...
So will we be granting diplomatic status to the Ukrainian opposition?
Gradually, they will all begin to wake up. The US wanted NATO to recreate Kosovo and Putin wasn’t having it. He will not allow NATO to do in Syria what it did in Libya.
The muslim Tartars will either have to fight for their autonomy without NATO help, or learn to live as a religious minority where they are.
(I belong to a cult and I want my own country, so I’ll get someone to force you to give up a piece of yours!)
US-made missiles reportedly in hands of Islamist fighters in Syria

While the opposition Syrian National Coalition, headed by Ahmad Jarba, has been meeting with US officials this week in Washington in an effort to secure further support, including more funding and additional antitank and antiaircraft weapons, news from Syria indicates that some advanced US-made weapons are already being used in various Syrian provinces by rebel fighters.
Over the past few weeks, media reports have stressed that US officials have begun a “pilot program” of providing small quantities of advanced weapons, including TOW missiles, to vetted “moderate” groups, and specifically the Harakat Hazm, which fights in a newly formed coalition called the Southern Front.

The Libyan civil war did more harm to the country, its people, economy and its neighbors in North Africa when NATO intervened at the behest of U.S. President Barack Obama, concluded a University of Texas-Austin professor Alan Kuperman. He gave his remarks at the libertarian think tank Cato Institute.

The country of Libya has seen its oil output fall to one-sixth of what it used to produce and the government is not functioning. At one point, the prime minister was kidnapped, was released and fled the country. Also, Kuperman felt that the destabilization of Libya caused the destruction of the best democracy in Africa: Mali. After we overthrew Qaddafi [the pro-Qaddafi militants] fled back to Mali the largest safe haven in the world for al-Qaeda. The formerly shining example of African democracy, Mali, soon became a battleground for al-Qaeda fighters.
