Before the first Star Wars movie, before Microsoft was founded and before John Paul II became Pope, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., was elected to Congress. And now, after 40 years in the House, Waxman is calling it quits.
But hes not the only one: A whopping 528 years worth of experience is about to walk out the door of the U.S. House of Representatives the most since 1996 and the second-most in at least four decades. Add that to the 132 years of experience leaving the Senate, and you get a staggering total of 660 years.
When we caught up with Waxman, as well as his longtime coworker from across the aisle, Rep. Tom Petri, R-Wis., to talk about their tenures in Congress, theres one word they both agreed described Congress today: gridlocked.

I love how all this “experience” is considered a plus by this author. I can’t see any good coming from Pigman Waxman holding any position for more than 2 months.
Liars at ABC are particularly vile...
They experience getting there and then repeat it to stay there. A better description would be: “One year of experience repeated 660 times.”
Of course there are never any Marxist extremists.
Pray America wakes up
So if every year we get another $1,000 BILLION in Debt and unfunded liabilities, 660 man-years would mean that would represent $660,000,000,000,000 (that’s $660 TRILLION) they’ve stuck our children with. Think about it. They had 50 (weeks) * 660 years = 33,000 man-weeks during which they did NOTHING to stop the bleeding.
Don’t let the doorknob hit you in your fatcat asses!
660 years of cronyism and “business as usual”. Not a serious loss IMO. The Republic will survive. Heck, it may actually get better.
“Of course there are never any Marxist extremists.”
This is perfectly reasonable and logical; that position is not “extreme” from the MSM of view.
What the hell's wrong with gridlock?
Spot on.
Even if it were correct, that would be worse. The founding fathers wanted a part time government of part time citizen representatives. Not permanent, professional politicians, i.e. rulers.
PS: the "experience" they refer to is in the areas of corruption, criminal activities, crony capitalism and trampling on the Constitution; and they get more skilled at it every year. We don't need that sort of "experience".
Yeah, the prossies in the capital building just dress a little differently. A parliament of whores.
GOOD! Get rid of all these corrupt bustards!
It's like getting rid of hemorrhoids; No downside at all!
For the sake of accuracy, that would be 8 years of (corrupt) experience repeated 85 times!!
660 years experience in screwing up the country. May each one rot in H.
I’m reminded of an old “Far Side” cartoon that depicted a number of people mingling at a “Part of the Problem Convention”.
LOL!
Or the mythical 9 women who produced a baby in 1 month!
A 660 year old congressman died? Isn’t that the only way they leave?
How much air do you suppose ol’ penstock nostrils has stolen in his 40-odd (and I do mean odd) years in congress?
