A new form of cancer could be triggered by a type of breast implant popular with British women, scientists are warning.
At least 150 cases of the disease, called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) of the breast, have been reported, including a handful in Britain.
Nine in 10 cases of the disease a cancer of the immune system have been in women who have received breast implants with a textured outer shell, according to experts.

And for those who’ve had cancer, consider homemade prosthetics in bras! Be creative! And if someone irks you, toss one at ‘em!
Well, I love a war on FR so here goes.
First, it's pretty axiomatic about women that they obsess over their appearance. Don't blame this on culture or the media; women have been like this throughout time. The Bible cautions women against excessive regard for their appearance, and it has been well documented that women of antiquity from Cleopatra to Jezebel all obsessed with hair, clothing, and the forms of makeup and youth potions available at the time.
Acknowledging said article, a female journalist at the Daily Mail a number of years ago did a personal study of the effect of bigger breasts on British men. She was a normal, attractive gal but wasn't well-endowed; she had a makeup artist prepare a new rack that looked as real as anything. The impact on men was astounding. Check out the article yourself:
Given that such is the effect of bigger boobs on the men who view them, I am not surprised that 30,000 women in the UK get boob jobs each year. I expect that 300,000 or 3 million women wish they could, or wish they would.
So BobL, for heavens sake, back off. Sounds like you have a dog in this hunt because you are waaaay too obsessed with this matter.
Great article, thanks for posting.
Constantly using CAPITALS is also pretty JUVENILE as well.
Admit it, you wished you had seen her strut by with her stuff. Can’t lie; I did.
I IMMEDIATELY started scanning the story for linked photos, LOL.
Then IGNORE me.

As I'm sure most people do when you get on your high horse.
Listening to you, I have this strange sensation as if I saw you walking on the street, alone, wearing an "I'm with STUPID" t-shirt.
They do. Example - Sylvester Stallone and Wacko Jacko. They get everything from plastic chins to large pecs and enhanced nether regions. They're just as vanity and silly as women.
Excellent work!
So where does that leave the ones who get breast reduction...maybe it’s about more than just looks, it could be job related, youth related, pain related, low self esteem, or a thousand other reasons that have nothing to do with vanity.
Actually it’s no one’s business why they do it, except their husbands, if they have one.
Men who obsess about the matter have their own issues to deal with, and they don’t realize women don’t care what they think of the changes....lol
Roger that. Men are obsessed with their appearance as well but it seems we are biologically wired to do less about it. Except for the girly-men like Stallone and the creeps like Jackson.
Well, I’m a man who’s been happily married to the same woman for 26 years so I haven’t done my own survey from the female perspective. But I will hazard a guess that women who are well-endowed hate their bosom, and wish they were smaller; and women who with small bosoms wish they were larger. I can vouch for the latter opinion.
I have a relative who had a breast reduction operation because hers were too large and heavy and were creating a health problem for her.
This story from England mirrors my experience. I’ve always been slender/average, but when I was nursing my children, I had a very impressive rack. The attention men gave me was absolutely incredible even though I was always dressed modestly and had NO interest in any man except my husband. It made me realize that the experience of well-endowed women and more average women is completely different.
So it’s very easy for me to understand why a woman might get implants if she wants to attract men. And if her doctors assure her that they are safe, she has no reason to think there might be anything wrong with them. I feel sorry for these poor women.
One deserves what they get. If I jump off the Golden Gate, then I deserve what happens next.
I bet you’re loads of fun at parties.
Just kidding. I doubt you get invited much.
I dont know too many people that IMPLANT glasses. But if you mean Cataracts, then that is a MEDICAL NECESSITY, unlike most breast implants.
I had PRK performed on my eyes after returning from Afghanistan back in 2007. My vision improved to 20/15 (above average).
In your world my eyeballs should explode out of my head, right?
I don’t think so; I was just replying to triple A’s response to BobL’s statement.
