As a side-note, I wanted to tell you that I just made myself a huge breakfast of 3 eggs sunny-side up, served on cheese grits, topped with sauteed onions and a big side of bacon...all cooked in bacon grease.
With, of course, the obligatory cup of strong black coffee.
(not to turn this into a cooking thread or anything)
You and I could kill a few evenings and bottles of scotch over this one.
IMHO, the Civil War resolved the intent of state separation and the Tenth Amendment. The war put the fed directly into state government and allowed the fed to dictate to states. As much as slavery was the reason behind the Civil War, the issue of states rights fit into it as well. Up until then states believed they were autonomous and independent. Not so, in the end.
I think it would be fair to describe it as a coverup of a coverup of a coverup.
They're all hooked together of course, but the first one being the funnystuff going on getting weapons to the Syrian "rebels" and the "riot" meant to obscure it.
The second being the obvious scandal with the WH creating the narrative spewed by Susan Rice to cover the botched fake riot.
The third being the criminal media malpractice of going along with the story until forced, kicking and screaming, to offer at least a pretense of covering the story.
All DVR's are set!
Fair enough, thanks.
Actually I only watch FNS because they have decent guests and commentary, unless someone here triggers me to tune in another show for a specific bit. I could never tolerate a full viewing any of the other myself, either.
The trick here is to play a little news analysis "gotcha" with the liars on TV, and maybe take it out of here, write some commentary critical of them, either online or in the local paper.
Maybe throw in some informative discussion on a call-in talk show who seem a little light on the facts.
That's why we're here.
You know Rod, it’s funny that you say G.Will has a stellar radio voice.
I find it comparable to sitting in the Dr.s office for 45 minutes being forced to listen to NPR and then having them wonder why your b/p is 300/200 when you finally get to the exam room.
I cannot understand why he and Kraut are such great friends.
Kraut is at least very intelligent, GW is just so faux.
JMHO.
If I may interject, there is a stream of utopianism in the air at the time of the Founding. The conscious abandonment of the Old World and the seemingly unlimited potential of the New brought forth the idea that man could and would now progress in a way hitherto unknown and impossible.
Some of this thought was under the guidance of Providence (God). But, that got abandoned or corrupted; yet the idea of that "city on the hill" has persisted.
It's probably not wise for me to question "American exceptionalism", but it is something I have been thinking about and studying on.
don-o donning his flame proofs.
“Why do you keep confusing Republicans with RINOs?”
So many RINOs so few Republicans. In Texas this fall, in the Federal elections all I have are RINOs. In the local Texas elections I have options.
So, do I stay the dumb frog in the kettle a the water heats up?
No.
You and millions of other TEA conservatives make it a life's mission to turn up the heat on the current crop of GOPe RINOs, driving them out and also working to defeat them at the ballot box with friendly, qualified, articulate, Constitutionalists of whatever ethnic background.
And doing your bit of this from right where you are, within your circle of influence.
Please consider this:
Source: BREAKING: Boehner to Appoint Special Benghazi Committee With Trey Gowdy in Charge
The Spartanburg Republican has been a critic of the Obama administration's response to the attack that killed four, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Here’s a good idea, and a mission for this week:
Call a local radio station that for whatever reason is taking calls, and on the air state that you are very dismayed and disappointed that 2 years ago 4 Americans died in Benghazi and nobody in Washington or the press seems to care to get to the bottom of it. Say you were initially told that it was because of a Internet video mocking Islam but later that wasn’t true and ask what ever came of that?
Stress that you and all the people you know are confused because this story seemed to be over very quickly and you still don’t know any facts except 4 Americans died and nobody came to help them and they said it was a riot over a video.
What channel is 24 on? I’m not showing it on here. Rats.
If you can't steer him, you can probably destroy him.
Truer words have never been spoken Pat. Never, ever, ever confess.
I have this fantasy... Killary is given the choice: confess everything or go to prison. No doubt in my mind she'd request a striped outfit.
When you see any group anywhere in total lockstep the only most likely scenario is intimidation and or a group that has been beat into submission. Usually a corrupt group.
Those articles are pure speculation and wishful thinking Chuck. I hope they are true. I was surprised that Gowdy was suggested as Chair. I would think he is the best choice. OTOH my cynical side says someone must have something on him so Boehner puts him out front knowing that SHTF ensues.
No faith in Boehner on the very eve of his crucial primary challenge (5/6). He has real opposition in SW Ohio this week.
The double standard is so prevalent its not even noteworthy anymore you just assume it.
You won’t get any flaming from me. Our founders did a lot of research into other governments, both current and historical, from what I’ve read. I’m sure they were utopian in that they did create what they believed would be the best possible government in light of what they wanted to get away from.
It’s really interesting to listen to Justice Scalia talk about these things. His insight into the pros and cons of the US Constitution are fantastic.
Laura was awesome.I saw a few moments of that. She has a knack for always bringing the conversation back to square one and to get to the basics. That scares the dogsh_t out of the left they can’t take overt truths.
When you consider that stuffy Stephy has known communist like Van Jones on his show over and over it tells you how low he has sunk or how low he always was. One or the other.
