RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A teenage male is being medically evaluated as part of a homicide investigation is in its early stages. It’s after an alleged assault on two children that left one dead, in South Richmond, near the 200 block of Brandon Road.
Police have warrants for the suspect’s arrest who is being described as teenage black male.
Richmond Police on scene confirmed that two juveniles, under the age of 13 were assaulted, one who succumbed to his injuries. The other has been taken to the hospital.
The aunt of the juveniles told CBS 6 Reporter Jon Burkett that Thursday afternoon the two children, a brother and sister, were playing on the railroad tracks.
The aunt told CBS 6 that the children came across a man who attempted to rape the 12-year-old girl.
Her brother, age eight, attempted to intervene, the aunt said (original ages told to CBS 6 were 9 and 11, but family corrected their statement).
The boy was beaten to death attempting to save his sister, the aunt told CBS 6.
The original suspect description given was limited to a white male with scraggly hair. But during the course of the police investigation, that description changed to a teenage black male.
Police said the surviving victim was “threatened and intimidated by the suspect” into initially giving inaccurate information. The case remains under investigation and police have not yet spoken publicly about the circumstances that led to the the child’s death.

Maybe it’s my imagination but this seems to be wayy worse than it used to be.
I’m lucky to live in Portland and we don’t have the big problems other areas do...but I have to wonder how long until it happens here. Decent people are no longer safe.
Everybody involved, including the poor little boy who was killed, appears to have been black. The killer tried to rape the boy’s sister, killed the little boy, and then told the girl to lie or he’d kill her too.
Black on black crime...that means the media doesn’t care. I guess it’s more fun to be beaten to death by somebody of your own race.

Warrrant? Does this mean they know who he is? Or do they just have a warrant out for a black teen?
The link mentions only a “brutal rape attempt” but it does say the suspect is in medical custody pending arrest.
Prayers up for the friends and relatives of that wonderful and brave little boy.
I believe that he is just fine... but how incredibly sad his loss must be to his sister and parents... may God be with them in this difficult time.

What an awful, awful thing... I read that and at the end of the article beyond any other thoughts what I imagined was the childlike innocence of a little boy that liked to collect keys... My prayers go out to the family.
Ummmm, the piece of shit attempted to rape her - then killed her bother in front of her, then threatened to kill her if she talked... and YOU doubt her? You doubt the 12 year old who watched her bother be murdered? Are you nuts?
