UN: Oklahoma execution may violate int'l law

GENEVA (AP) — The United Nations human rights office says U.S. death row inmate Clayton Lockett's suffering during his botched Oklahoma execution this week may amount to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment under international human rights law.

A spokesman for the office, Rupert Colville, says Lockett's prolonged death on Tuesday is "the second case of apparent extreme suffering caused by malfunctioning lethal injections" reported in the United States this year, after Dennis McGuire's execution in Ohio on Jan. 16 with an allegedly untested combination of drugs.

Colville told reporters Friday in Geneva that "the apparent cruelty involved in these recent executions simply reinforces the argument that authorities across the United States should impose an immediate moratorium on the use of the death penalty and work for abolition of this cruel and inhuman practice."

Article I, §1: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives”

Dictionary:all [awl] adjective
1. the whole of (used in referring to quantity, extent, or duration): all the cake; all the way; all year.

There is no such thing as international “law”. Law requires a lawgiver. In the case of the United States, the lawgiver is the People of the United States, and ALL (defined above) legislative powers are either delegated to a Congress or retained by the People.

Meanwhile, innocent people die by the thousands elsewhere (for any number or reasons) and the UN is silent.

And how many times has this UN group complained about Saudi execution methods?

This method of execution should become the new standard nationwide. Except for states with a coastline. Those should bury the convict up to his neck in sand at low tide, then let the tide slowly fill his lungs.

The media keeps stating that this was a “botched execution”. I keep wondering how that could possible be when it had a successful outcome!

...and work for abolition of this cruel and inhuman practice.

But they are OK with abortion, human trafficking, murder of Christians and genocide. Great moral authority there UN.

This article has good background on Clayton Lockett's last day and his execution.

Defiant Lockett Tasered hours before execution

When you read this, it does not sound very different from any other lethal injection. It took 43 minutes start to finish. How long do most lethal injections take? He was declared unconscious within 10 minutes, which apparently was not unusual. He died of a "heart attack", which is exactly what the potassium chloride administered is supposed to do.

Most of the drama the leftist press has grabbed onto is based on the reports of Tulsa World reporter Ziva Branstetter, who has caused problems in the past

New Tulsa World Publisher Faces Troubles in First Week

ZivaGate: Ziva Branstetter accused of collusion in Rutkauskas offensive against blog critic

and then promptly went out on NPR and the radical leftist Democracy Now! internet video news program.

Until I see reports from the other 11 eyewitnesses, I am not putting much stock in Ms. Branstetter's report.

After Maine secedes on June 12, 2018, those sentenced to execution will be given a choice, by the presiding judge of hanging or firing squad, if he or she does not answer, the judge will then order which method and when.

"And how many times has this UN group complained about Saudi execution methods?

"

Are you starting to see why, after Maine secedes on June 12, 2018, Maine, by it's constitution, will be a perpetual war with the UN and therefore never be able to join it or have any part in it.

Can we please stop our UN experiment. We need to force them move the HQ on a rotating basis to some of their more friendly countries like Iran, Venezuela, Sudan; you know where they actually pretend to do their work.

Hang ‘em.

Hanging has been used for thousands of years, and has proved to be effective. Criminals don’t like it, either; another selling point.

There should never be such a thing as "international law" concerning U.S. states or citizens period!

Uh, so in the UN’s eyes raping and stabbing a pregnant woman to death is not inhumane.

He raped and stabbed her to almost death and then buried her while she was still alive.
