GOP Leadership Plotting to Pass Amnesty in August, May Put AZ, TX in Play for Dems
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | April 27, 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 04/27/2014 8:04:10 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the House GOP Conference Chair, said that amnesty legislation could come to the floor by August.

Her comments come after multiple House Republicans have ramped up support for amnesty legislation and discussed bills they plan to introduce in the coming months.

“I believe there is a path that we get a bill on the floor by August,” McMorris Rodgers said, according to the Spokesman-Review. “We’re going to have to push that this is a legal status, not amnesty,” she said.

According to NBC 5, Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) "will soon introduce a bill that will establish a path to citizenship for the minor children of illegal immigrants and a guest worker program."

"If the only illegal act they committed was coming into the country without proper documentation we'd put them on a path to legalization," Barton said.

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) said the Republican leadership is "as close as we have ever been" and, though "it is still a big, big, heavy lift... I think we’re going to get there.”(continued)

Cherry:

You can blame me too! If a Romney or anything vaguely resembling a Romney is nominated, YOU may support social revolution lite over social revolution. I won't. Neither will an increasing number of actual conservatives who have had enough, thank you and others like you, of the McConnells, the Cornyns, the LAMARS, the Murkowskis, the Boehners, the Cantors, the McCarthys, the McCains, the Doles (both of them) and the rest of the slime posing as "Republicans."

I am ashamed to confess that I voted GOP in each and every POTUS election from 1968 to 2008. If I had it to do over again, I would have voted for Reagan twice and Bush the Younger twice (with some reservations). That trash Romney was a bridge too far. His nomination ripped it once and for all. This country needs an actual opposition party to the Demonrats. It won't get one until the "moderate" slimebags have been politically exterminated. That stated TRUTH may hurt the surrender monkeys who will eagerly vote for any POS with the Republican label and thereby vote the destruction of our country. Tooooo bad! Pooooor babies! If you want a united GOP with which to defeat the Demonrats, then nominate candidates worth voting FOR. Get conservative votes the old-fashioned way by earning them. Otherwise, you DON'T get those votes and you lose with your loser candidates.

The GOP lost the 2012 election the moment that the GOP nominated pro-abortion, gun grabbing, marriage destroying, "gay" everything supporting, greedy pig $$$$ obsessive Romney, the grandfather of Obozocare. I know it. You know it. We all know it. If you hallucinate that Romney was somehow worth voting for, be my guest. Keep on supporting this leftist trash in GOP drag. I won't and neither will an increasing number of conservatives. If you want to elect Hillary, then nominate Thurston Howell or some other windtunnel Romney hack-a-like. The GOP imposters can buy nominations but they can't buy the votes to be elected in the general election.

The Wall Street greedy pigs don't like it? Too bad! The Junior League doesn't like it? Too Bad! The polo club and yacht club don't like it? Too bad! Thurston Howell and Lovey don't like it? Too bad! I care a lot more about my country, about babies, guns, marriage and other real issues not terribly fashionable among the spoiled and privileged set than to make believe that the likes of Romneycare Romney is somehow a "Republican." If he is a Republican, I'm not.

To recap, YOU may support trash like Romney. I won't. You have two years' notice. If you want conservatives to vote GOP, nominate accordingly or suffer the consequences of Demonrat victories.

The leadership and their lackies are not concerned with the Republic or even keeping control of the House. They will still, for the most part, keep their cushy jobs and being the minority party is so much easier. For those that don’t there are equally cushy jobs as lobbyists and consultants. They don’t give a rat’s a$$ about you.

We’re going to have to push that this is a legal status, not amnesty,” she said.

Their mindset. "We are just too damned lazy to stand up for our principles and ideals. It is much easier to cling to woefully inept arguments and lies."

Their campaign consultants, advisers, analysts and pollsters tell them they'll win if they do this (ROVE). The Washington Post is telling them that even if they do this, Hispanics will never vote for them.

Frankly, I hate to say this, but the Washington Post is right on this one.

We can elect conservative candidates into eternity, or form another party and it won't change the culture or structure of the institutions that are responsible for our slide into tyranny. By all means support conservatives, but viewing our problems through the lens of political party, of voting, will not remedy what ails us. Obama’s gathering of despotic powers is the inevitable result of the 17th amendment. As long as power is concentrated in one location, Washington DC, no election can possibly lead to restoration of American liberty. It is essential to return to the Framer's structure of government, to diffuse power between the states and the government they created.

Some of the conservative reluctance to embrace an Article V state convention to propose amendments is related to cognitive dissonance. Simply put, an American dictatorship is felt to be a contradiction. It can't happen. It is an impossible inconsistency.

By refusing to accept the seriousness of our situation, one can stick to the comfortable and American belief in elections. Election of the right people is all that is needed, and that belief is consistent with our tradition.

OTOH, if one accepts the fact that Obama’s official conduct and power is closer to that of Hugo Chavez than Ronald Reagan, that what little freedom we have exists at the pleasure of a few hundred people in DC, one has to decide what to do about it.

There is one peaceful option, so it must be pursued. It is as simple as that.

I printed a sample ballot for May 20 here in Georgia. I found out my congressman (Collins) has a primary challenger (Fontaine). I’m voting for Fontaine.

I told my congressman that AMNESTY and the Budget were the two things that could get him fired. He voted along with John Lewis (D) and Johnson(D) here for Paul Ryan’s debt limit capitulation bill recently.

Each side should respect their fellow conservatives on the other side as meaning well. We are aligned on ideology, and we both want to make the country better. Our approaches differ, but we are on the same team.

Au Contraire. Most of the time here when a true conservative gets into an argument with an establishment GOP'er over voting for the lesser of two evils, you get that first polite "but you're only helping the Democrats..."

They then get a reply back about principles and ideals and then all hell breaks loose. The establishment R's automatically resort to epithets, reductio absurdum and then finally the "silence of the lambs."

I've seen/experienced that here far too many times.

Frankly, at so very early in this election cycle, for many here to be promoting capitulation in the form of "lesser of two evils" and broadcasting it to the entire world as a common sentiment of one of the most vocally conservative forums on the internet smacks loudly of surrender even before the battle is joined.

But that conservative discourse of principles and ideals can't happen because they are so wrapped up in winning at all costs, likely keeping tools like Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, Graham, McCain et al in the bargain. We've all seen what that's gotten us.

“If the only illegal act they committed was coming into the country without proper documentation we’d put them on a path to legalization,” .......

And the demodummies will boast that they, not the conservatives, got this legislation passed, thereby soliciting and winning the “new American’s” votes. Not to mention, these are the same people who now provide them with all that “free sh^t”. A win/win for the demodummies for certain.

It appears that the GOP is conspiring with the Mexicans to turn the southwest over to Mexico. I see another Alamo in my future.

You won’t see another Alamo if o is in charge. He will take US land like what has been already happening, and give it to Mexico with a bow and apology. That’s o social justice at work. Whatever conservatives hate he will do just to stick it in our eye.

Romney is so UN-memorable as a candidate.

For the conservative contingency of FR, he was put together with guaze anyway, but he was rather perfect for the Republican utilitarian types willing to trade, AT ANY PRICE, their vote, for some kind of “peace”, as they saw it— some kind of “safety” and “security”, however short term. To hell with the real price of liberty = begins with courage.

Romney and Obama were two purveyors of Liberation Theology put to use in a secular fashion in the field of politics, with only tactical differences between them to reach the same end.

Utilitarian voters make easy marks to shape for a vote in the political vacuum that they are building, by decades of their seemingly endless willingness to compromise. We were all guilty along the way, but some of us caught on.

The influence of more conservative American tradition, education and religion has been traded off only by those voters whose priority is to avoid fighting for anything beyond their own peace of mind.

The country probably needed a dose of what such endless cowardice and compromise has wrought. A Romney vote was an example of what NOT to do in a fire fight. Now we have at least kicked the door down at the RNC, nailed to the table a “No Sale” bill, and bought ourselves a chance to expose the Republican leadership, and make or break the next Republican nominee.

Not voting for Romney Ruse is a badge of honor. To me, it makes us enemies of continued cowardice and compromise.

We are two and a half years out from the next presidential election.

Two and a half years out and already we see post after post with people incrementally easing us into accepting the idea that lesser evils are OK and we must vote GOP no matter what.

Again.

I am sure I am not alone in feeling I woke up in the movie Groundhog Day. the same names from the last fiasco are again at the forefront on threads arguing for their RINOs, sometimes outright, sometimes with the velvet glove of ‘Oh well ew may not have a choice.

If we cannot agree two years out that we have to band together behind conservative principles and find a conservative worthy of bring them to the fight, then I want someone to logically explain the point of being here at all. Not just here on FR, I mean at the table of conservatism.

why not just side with the RINO/s now...today. And utterly crush the Dems with brute force.

If we believe in situational ethics, lets do it. Now. today.

Id we believe that only winning matters, lets do it. Now. today.

If we believe lesser evils are the way to go then lets do it. now. Today.

No more talking in circles. No more wasting time on Palin and Cruz who will require a fight against the RINOs. No more opposition to the Homofication of America that comes with RINO politics.

No more opposition to Amnesty which is a requirement of supporting RINO politics.

No more fighting against Abortion as the RINOs like Rand Paul demand we moderate.

If we truly believe that we have to win NO MATTER WHAT, then lets cut the crap here, now today, Embrace these issues, stop fighting it and go kick Democrat ass.

Or if we are conservative, believe in principle, believe in morality, in ethics, in the things America was founded on, then lets once and for all tell these RINO supporting idiots to shut the hell up and stop tying up conservatives with the same failed crap they have pushed since Reagan left office.

It cannot be both. Binary. I have said it for years and it has never been untrue. One cannot serve two masters. There is a them and there is an us.

Pick one and go with it folks. Or we simply repeat the Romney war fiasco, the GOP plants and sycophants use FR as a fenced pen to continue to tie us up in one place and we all lose.

It is THAT simple.

...but once the big elections are here, you support the only major opposition to the rats....

False premise. One hundred percent false premise in the case of Romney.

Functionally, voting for Romney was voting for everything the rats want. "Opposition" was solely cosmetic and purely self-defeating.
