Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the House GOP Conference Chair, said that amnesty legislation could come to the floor by August.
Her comments come after multiple House Republicans have ramped up support for amnesty legislation and discussed bills they plan to introduce in the coming months.
I believe there is a path that we get a bill on the floor by August, McMorris Rodgers said, according to the Spokesman-Review. Were going to have to push that this is a legal status, not amnesty, she said.
According to NBC 5, Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) "will soon introduce a bill that will establish a path to citizenship for the minor children of illegal immigrants and a guest worker program."
"If the only illegal act they committed was coming into the country without proper documentation we'd put them on a path to legalization," Barton said.
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) said the Republican leadership is "as close as we have ever been" and, though "it is still a big, big, heavy lift... I think were going to get there.(continued)

Put the GOPe on suicide watch. They’ve Whigged out.
We have never tried that, from the standpoint of a new party forming.
That is credibility.
We need a voice. We currently do not have it, so we continue to argue with people who should be on our own side.
This is what I mean. We start our own party now.
Once this is done, then from the standpoint of a new party we approach the GOP and say we want to work WITH THEM.
It could be, at that point they listen to us because we’ve shown we are ready to go our own way.
It could however be, we need to ... go our own way.
What we need to do right now however, is start at the beginning. We need to start that process.
We need to initiate all the rest of what (may or may not) happen, by initiating a new party.
Right now. I am tired of these people so badly misrepresenting what I want them to say, and support.
Always they are wrong, anymore.
I see this particular discussion (voting for the lesser evil) as one similar to doctrine conflicts in churches. What’s the Bible say about those? It says we’re supposed to agree to disagree on issues that aren’t essential to salvation. Some Christians think it’s OK to have a beer. Others don’t. I’m in the former group, but I wouldn’t make fun of a Christian that abstained entirely from alcohol. In fact, I’d not touch the stuff at all if it hindered his walk.
So what does this have to do with voting? Conservatives who vote for the lesser of two evils are not any less conservative than those who don’t vote on principle. Each side should respect their fellow conservatives on the other side as meaning well. We are aligned on ideology, and we both want to make the country better. Our approaches differ, but we are on the same team.
Bottom line: People should probably carefully consider voting or not voting and do what they feel is best for the USA.
Im sure they will push towards amnesty but Cathy, Mario and Joe are not representative of the rank and file GOP. Cathy has promised amnesty before, Mario votes for every amnesty and Joe seems to think he is going to get the rank and file on board with Boehner-Schumer principles.
Just in time for the Nov 2014 vote.
The fear of communism from the 40s and 50s was real, and now controls the political class. Our republic is in the balance. Pray for America.
Obama is bullying these losers...us would have lost ww2 if cowards like this woman had any power...he has their nsa files
So illegal Mexicans and high tech visa workers can have jobs. LOL.
Agree....just wish it wasn't between Dewberry and Dan Patrick :(
* RULE 11: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Never let the enemy score points because youre caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If youre not part of the solution, youre part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
We, on the other hand, want our children and grandchildren to realize the American dream. We're reaching the point where we "go Galt", to let the system crash sooner rather than later. Any amnesty bill, i.e. immigration reform, sends me to the proverbial Galt's Gulch.
Okay, this makes no sense to me whatsoever. However, in the last 24 hours I may have come up with a reason why it makes some sense.
In 2016, we are going to have a number of folks seeking the presidential nomination. As they head into 2016, they are going to have to have a platform that covers illegal immigration and how to fix it.
Unless...
We have some folks right now that people really want to see run. And so far after six years in the lime-light, at least one of them has no plan whatsoever in print.
These folks don’t want to lay out a plan. It’s that simple. If they put it out there it will cause the Left to carp and the right to carp. So how to fix this?
Easy. Comprehensive Immigration Reform
Now you don’t have to sign off on this if you’re a candidate. In fact you can say you don’t support comprehensive immigration reform. Some folks will be happy to canonize you for it. You just pray that this issue is laid to rest by 2016.
And so it is, the GOPe is dead set to pass comprehensive immigration reform. It’s my take that certain Republican candidates are going to be thrilled not to have to explain their own plan.
So this fall we will essentially legalize between 20 and 35 million illegal immigrants, rather than develop a plan that denies them green cards or citizenship.
Once these folks register, they are instantly transformed from illegal immigrant to legal immigrant obeying the law of the land.
And in about six years they’ll apply for citizenship, and then comes chain immigration.
All this because our favorite candidates didn’t want to take a stand, tell us what their fix was, and run on that platform.
Nevermind between 20-35 million new citizen bringing in between 2 and 7 relatives each. At least our fair hair favorites can skate on this issue.
Who cares if in twelve years there are 100 million more Democrat voters? Now we can all get behind the best candidate ever. You know, the one who has the best sound bytes and looks prettier than any of the rest.
Leadership? Sad...
And then in ten years when another 20 to 35 million illegals cross the border, they'll legalize them too. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Will vote for most conservative candidate in GOP primaries.
Will never vote for a RINO again in the general election as the lesser of two socialists.
All we need do is each of us who is fed up with the GOP, make it known. long and loud. And I assure you, people come to you seeking the support of those numbers.
We do not need to form a party in the traditional sense, though eventually. What we need to do is demonstrate the strength of numbers and strike fear into the RINOS.
you get all of us speaking the same language...”NO RINOS EVER” and bet the farm, you will get them to grovel after reality sets in.
In the meantime, devote ourselves to electing those we believe in. Period.
From personal experience I know that most people that are not total libs hate the GOP. They will never vote for it. the label is an albatross. Take away that albatross and you WILL get indys and minorities that are nut nutzoisd libs. they like us have no true home.
We can shift this election. We just have to let people know there are many just like them. They and we are not alone. And there is strength in our numbers.
We kind have already been down this road already since before 2008 even. If the GOP isn’t interested in changing then we need another alternative. We can all agree the GOP is not interested in being true conservatives.
First of all things that matter is ,parents i.e. mother and male sperm provider, should be held totally responsible for any child’s welfare. But very important after such is that for any child to be placed on a dole from USA citizens there must be a some thread of parents attachment as being established citizens. USA citizen children should not be burdened with government requirements to support children of non citizens.
Republican leadership seems intent on making dimmacrats the permanent leaders of Congress, and the republican party permanently irrelevant.
Hmm. The usual suspects in the GOP want amnesty ans KNOW dems will win for generations to come. What are they getting in return? I suspect McCain and boehner jump over to the democrat side and live out their lives in fantastic wealth and power.
Yep...
I would suggest that may not happen though.
Part of the 2007 Immigration Reform bill was an increase in the legal immigration levels. They also set up an automatic increase in the figure as long as the quota for the last year had been fully used.
I doubt anyone can imagine that figure never being filled each year. And so the starting figure grows rather rapidly.
So why come over illegally, when you can simply register and come on over?
In 2007 I did some calculations on this. The 20 year figure was projected to be very large, perhaps as high as 40 million. The plan had started out at 500 thousand to one million, but with the auto increased, it grew very rapidly.
For some reason they can’t quite grasp that we have to many Mexican nationals here already. Let’s assimilate what we have, then bring more over.
So the 20-35 million, plus the chain immigrants, and the new legal immigration, would have garnered us around 125 to 150 million people in 20 years.
Hey, no problem...
Good grief!
