The Boy Scouts image, once defined by idyllic Norman Rockwell paintings, has suffered during the contentious debate over whether [homosexual] youths and adults should be allowed to participate in Scouting, according to a public opinion poll.
Rasmussen Reports, an independent polling firm, asked the following question in a telephone survey: Do you have a very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable, or very unfavorable impression of the Boy Scouts of America?
According to the poll, 59 percent of American adults have a very favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of the Boy Scouts. Thats a 6-point drop since last May, and a 14-point drop since February 2012.

Twenty-one percent of respondents said they had a very favorable opinion of the organization down from 40 percent two years ago.
Fran Coombs, managing editor of Rasmussen Reports, said the polling data shed no direct light on why an increasing number of Americans seem to be developing negative feelings about the Boy Scouts of America.
But he added, As a lay person, the only thing I see about Scouts that has risen to the surface is the [homosexual] issue.

“The BSA shouldnt have surrendered to the homosexual mafia. The same thing is going to happen to Chik-fil-A.”

I agree 100%.
No doubt whatsoever.
Surrendering is the same as losing. Every single time.
I understand how difficult the decision is. At the troop I used to be associated with there also is the appearance that, because no boy claiming to be homosexual has applied to join, nothing has changed. To me, however, the key thing is that the BSA's teaching has changed. The BSA has endorsed the homosexual lifestyle and declared that it is "morally straight." To me this is a major change, because as another poster pointed out, outdoor skills were seconday, the primary mission of the BSA was to build character.
I overheard a scoutmaster puzzling over what to do if a homosexual boys goes on a camping trip. Scout rules say that a boy cannot tent alone. The rules forbid boys and girls from tenting together. What to do? What to do? He said, "Maybe we'll just ask and see who won't mind and put him with him." (!)
Do you wonder if, due to the BSA's new teaching, the boys would be subject to subtle pressure to say they wouldn't object? I know in this scoutmaster's troop, the announcement of the new homosexual acceptance policy was couched in terms of "tolerance," and "non-discrimination." Would your boy be safe in those circumstances? Would he want to stand out as being "intolerant"? Would this scoutmaster tent a seventeen-year old homosexual boy with a tenderfoot who doesn't object because he doesn't even know what homosexuality is.
Amen, Sir.
My son was both, and his only son was also, but has gone on to be a Boy Scout with a Gun, having graduated from Parris Island in Sept.
The ethics instilled in them will sustain them through their entire lives. What the national leadership has done, under intense pressure, cannot undo that.
Our Scoutmasters know better than to even bring it up.
I can guarantee that if an out of the closet homosexual scout was to join, the parents would pull their kids out in a New York minute, and that would be the end of that Troop.
Want to know the truth? Since the faggotization of today’s military, I do NOT hold it with the same awe and respect I used to. “Married” homos sharing quarters? Drag-queen festivities on military bases? Sheer degeneracy.
As a former Cub Scout, Boy Scout (Troop 288 KC Mo.) Eagle Scout and Osceola Mo. Scout camp staffer for 3 years and former Mic-O-Say tribesman and a contributor— I just walked away this last year. The PC cancer will only get worse. Make no mistake ... NAMBLA is keen to be an involved “hands on” national sponsor of the Boy Scouts. The BSA broke my heart and they will never get another freakin’ dime from me. It just makes me sick that they chose to be sick.....
In the military's defense, they did not vote those policies in - they were ordered by the DoD at the insistence of their CiC.
What/how/when did they stand up for what is right?
BSA = homo agenda.
They are dead to me.
As they take the slip ‘n slide to Gomorrah, the support decreases.
What a surprise.
Gay Mafia strikes again. The Pink Hammer will crush all who do not bow to them—watch—they will do this to Chick-filet next.
Gee, that doesn't quite sound like 'utter contempt'.
It was NOT voted on by 'the Scouts' either, but by their board of directors. And not just out of the blue, but at a point where the very financial survival of the organization was at risk.
Agreed. But I don’t think the military leaders in the Pentagon came up with this on their own.
Even surrendering ever so slightly is losing. The Gaystapo wants ALL of it, and being thrown a token bone makes them all the angrier.
Maybe that's a consistent quality of good things. They are fleeting by their very nature, because Evil will always seek to overcome all things good.
The Advocate
12/23/2008 - President-elect Obama told The Advocate that he would not make support of DADTs repeal a litmus test for his military leaders. What I want are members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who are making decisions based on what strengthens our military and what is going to make us safer, not ideology.
Obama Told Military Leaders: Accept Gays In Military Or Step Down, Admiral Says
3/31/2014 In a meeting with the heads of the 5 service branches in 2010, POTUS #44 BHO offered the leaders a choice: Support my efforts to end the militarys Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy, or resign. In a video obtained by BuzzFeed via a Freedom of Information Act request, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp revealed that Obama was unwilling to compromise with service leaders over DADT during a meeting in 2010. We were called into the Oval Office and President Obama looked all five service chiefs in the eye and said, This is what I want to do. I cannot divulge everything he said to us, thats private communications within the Oval Office, but if we didnt agree with it if any of us didnt agree with it we all had the opportunity to resign our commissions and go do other things, he said.
Papp talked about the meeting during a Q&A session with U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets following a leadership address to the corps on 1/08/2014. The admiral was asked how officers should respond to policies that they disagreed with but were required to enforce. If I disagree morally with [a policy], its my obligation to voice that, regardless of the risk it might give my career, he said. Ive been in those situations. Ive been fortunate to have good leaders that have appreciated that. Using himself as an example, Papp said it was OK for leaders to not be thrilled with a certain regulation, but if they didnt see anything terribly wrong with it, it was their job as officers to support and enforce it. The admiral, who will be retiring from active duty on 5/30/2014, added that he thought the U.S. military made the right decision by abolishing DADT.
Admiral Papp discusses DADT at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

I asked District, Council and National the following question:
Why is it permissible for a homosexual Scout who is 17 yrs and 364 days old to tent with a heterosexual Scout who is 11 years old, but it's not ok for an 18 year old heterosexual Scout to tent with his 17 yrs and 364 days old heterosexual buddy who he came up the ranks with?
Crickets...
The Boy Scouts has resisted having homosexuals in it’s ranks. In truth I don’t think it goes after individual homosexual boy scouts as long as they don’t celebrate openly.
This I believe is the right thing to do. And it is definitely an attempt to protect children.
