On one tour we joined, smoke wafted out windows. Strangers shared pipes and exchanged samples of weed and wax, a concentrated form of marijuana. Canisters of buds bearing names like "tangerine haze" and "strawberry cough," were passed around to smell. Nutella pancakes came up in conversations at least three times.

Alcohol is more legal and more available so it is a worthless statement.

...and we in the USSRW (Washington State) are right behind them thanks to the idiots who voted for Mary Jane’s legalization.

Assuming you are the libertarian to which you refer, are you happy that pot is going to be more available and cheaper to our kids and grandkids?

Welcome to OBAMA-LAND!

The Gay-Stoned-States of America.

How ironic...They think the party is just starting. Truth be told, the party is over.

As a libertarian, I am happy that there will be less justification for asset forfeiture, fewer people jailed for minor possession, and fewer legal entanglements due to overzealous prosecution for a drug that has a rather benign societal effect.

What your kids pay for it is none of anybody’s concern.

Legend is a bunch of kids in California designated 4:20 as their daily smoking time. From there, it went mega-viral and endured for over 40 years...

And if you believe that, you also believe in legends concerned omnipresent tooth-collectors with bottomless change purses.

The people who enshrined this day know damn well whose birthday it is (like the earth day people know damn well that Lenin’s birthday is 4/22). Stoners are too oblivious to care.

The generations of American drug users may explain alot of things.

I was at the welcome ceremony for NYU Tisch business school my daughter was fortunate enough to get accepted to.

What struck me is that it seemed like 95% of the kids that were accepted were either asian or Indian, or possibly some middle eastern decent. Somebody mentioned that these dynamics were true for most competetive colleges. I knew of a couple of home schooled kids that got in, but other than that, anglo American youth have either fallen by the wayside, or as a group, have mediocre aspirations.

The 3 anglo looking kids, were without doubt Jewish (names). My daughter is 3rd generation hispanic decent. The difference may be that Asian and Indian families give education high priority and the kids don’t get caught up in this stupid, man made, sub culture, of drugs and “partying”.

Fatherless American children don’t stand a chance. It is really sad. Pray for our country.

It is with considerable hilarity that their beloved numbers “420”, as in April 20, also happen to be Adolf Hitler’s birthday. Which if you remind them, causes some small degree of angst on their part.

“So, why are you guys celebrating Hitler’s birthday?”

“Alcohol is more legal and more available so it is a worthless statement.”

No, it is not. I didn’t see any comments about alcohol consumption. In fact, there are more DUIs for alcohol than pot in Colorado so your comment is worthless.

This hype that pot is going to ruin this country and turn everyone into zombies is just plain silly. Those that want pot, including your own kids, can get it, and have been getting it.

Take a look at all the kids in jail for pot possession, all the dead kids and adults from cops shooting them in raids, all the money we taxpayers spend on all that and tell me the war on some drugs is working. It isn’t. Never did work.

Odds are you, yourself, have DUI’d, caught or not, on alcohol. Odds are you have been drunk, yet, you bash pot??

Looks like Salad Days are here for pot smokers in Colorado. Or at least, Dorito Days.

“Drunks are miserable to be around. BOTH groups (drunks and potheads) end up talking and behaving like idiots.

Without question, they do, and they are. I want societal pressures to keep people from being drunks or druggies. I don’t want this tyranny of the “war on some drugs” we have today to continue getting even worse.

I want us to get back to employers, churches, social groups, and individuals shunning those that are not behaving properly. Unfortunately, the liberals want us to accept any and all behaviors except conservative behaviors. To a liberal: Want to smoke pot and act badly, go for it; want to read the Bible on school grounds at recess, no way.

I don’t associate with drunks or druggies. They are always more problem than they are worth.

“are you happy that pot is going to be more available and cheaper to our kids and grandkids?”

It is not anyone else’s job to raise your children not to smoke pot...or drink alcohol. The same argument you made was made against alcohol.

Your question assumes cheaper or more readily available pot was all your kids or grandkids were looking for so they could smoke pot. In other words, your comment says your offspring are pot smokers, they just couldn’t find it or afford it.

The fact is, I don’t know a single person here in Colorado that didn’t smoke pot that now will. Your comment suggests we all will magically turn to smoking pot.

You clearly have to be on the slippery slope to legalized meth and heroin if you think enforcement is useless. Why stop at pot? As a liberaltarian I’m sure you’re for all drugs being legal, but it’s hypocrisy to say only pot should be changed and not the rest. And frankly when it comes to mental changes and psychological addiction pot is just as bad or worse than the others.

I live in WA state and am NOT looking forward to marijuana festivals, and especially not to marijuana-ized drivers on the street.

The current marijuana plants are anything but “your parents’ marijuana;” stuff grown today is far more addictive and psychoactive, thanks to higher levels of thc, tetrahydracannabinol, the chemical that makes you “high.”

I want societal pressures to keep people from being drunks or druggies.

Maybe the government should require public service anouncements like the "Drink Responsibly" ads we see.

Something like "Do Dope, Get Choomed Up, And Burn Your Brain Cells Out Responsibly".

Or something like this:

"BE A RESPONSIBLE DOPE ADDICT - THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU"
