When Kit Laney answered a knock on his door Saturday, law enforcement officers from the U.S. Forest Service handed him a piece of paper announcing his Diamond Bar Ranch in southwest New Mexico would be shut down Wednesday and his 300 head of cattle grazing there would be removed one way or the other.
Other Forest Service officials were busy nailing similar notices on fence posts along the highway and informing neighbors that after Feb. 11, they should not attempt to enter the Diamond Bar property.
Laney was not surprised. He knew someday there would be an on-the-ground confrontation to enforce a 1997 court ruling which says his cattle are trespassing on federal land. That day has arrived.

That would pretty much do the job, at my age. Although I do have a dart gun implanted, that is supposed to kick start me.

I previously read the article but it must have been scrubbed.
This link still works:
I think BLM backed down because they were out numbered 5-1.
Even BLM can do simple math.
Just to be clear to those that are not familiar with the story, this happened 10 years ago.
I apologize to NM Freepers as I thought this was a current article. Maybe that was why the original Tea Party Tribune article was yanked.
A little research I did found it’s a ten-year old story. See the WND link above.
I think it is good to read this, and be aware that it has been happening a while. I knew Kit and Sherry, was a neighbor to them for about a year- it was before they had their run in with the government. When this happened to them they did not really try to publicize it and most had no idea what was going on. Forest Service and BLM have put many ranchers out of business on a whim, or in support of environmentalists, any reason or none at all. A few stood up to the government, Kit Laney, Wayne Hage, Wally Klump- there are more I have heard of but don’t know much about.
OK, thanks. I read it when it was first posted. At that time I was told it was an old article. But a recent post to the source.
Rogue Departments MUST be reined in.
