House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is "hellbent" on passing amnesty legislation, and other GOP leaders are signaling to donors and lobbyists that they also want to pass legislation this Congress, even though attempting to do so would depress the GOP base and create divisions within the party ahead of 2014's midterm elections that could give Republicans control of Congress.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Boehner told donors at a Las Vegas fundraiser in March that he was "hellbent on getting this done this year." After he met with President Barack Obama at the White House in February, Boehner said that he agreed with Obama on immigration during the meeting.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, also reportedly delivered an "upbeat message about legislative prospects during a recent trip to Silicon Valley" where he attended a fundraiser in which donors who wanted more high-tech visas paid $10,000 to $40,000 to hear him speak. He told attendees that votes on five to seven pieces of legislation were "entirely possible," according to the Journal.
As Breitbart News has reported, Goodlatte's "SKILLS" Act, which is also backed by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and has passed out of committee, "would also double the number of H1-B visas that the high-tech industry covets." However, numerous studies have shown that the notion that there is a shortage of high-tech American workers is a myth.
In addition, the Journal noted that Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), who said that Obama would act unilaterally if amnesty legislation was not passed, is also drafting "legislation that would give qualifying undocumented immigrants legal status and the chance to apply for citizenship through existing channels." House leaders have reportedly told Diaz-Balart to have the legislation ready by June or July.

as i said before....the gop-e will find a way to lose the midterms and give the dims a win.
And screw all you people about sitting on a couch and visiting a hospital ... WE NEED AMERICAN LEADERSHIP GOING IN AN AMERICAN DIRECTION
It’s starting to look as though the illegal aliens will be deciding November’s elections.
We are ‘hellbent’ on passing Boehner this year!
Depress?! How ‘bout enrage. This will be political suicide for these morons.
Boehner does NOT care. His bed is feathered already.
Hellbent on passing amnesty? He can go straight to hell!
“may try to push through legislation to try to help the party’s 2016 nominee with Hispanics, even though there is no data to indicate that Hispanics would become Republicans if the party passes amnesty legislation.
They really are the stupid party.
Gotta keep the heat on these a$$clowns.
We need a secure border, controlled immigration, and deportation for illegals. Add in stiff penalties for companies that knowingly hire illegals, and we’ll be closer to the correct position than we have been since Teddy Kennedy was elected to the Senate.
The GOPe’s corporate masters WILL get what they want.
The money flying into K-Street and Congress over this is in the truckloads.
Follow the money. That’s what this is all about.
The GOP never wanted to govern. They want to be a figurehead of opposition looking out for business interests, nothing more.
Conservatives need to remember that it is not just limp wrists like Boehner at fault here, but the business interests backing their pitch for sub-minimum, sub-legal wages, instead of paying Americans to work for them.
As such, these businessmen are not just greedy, but anti-American. So when there is a conservative congress and POTUS, these businessmen need to be punished.
1) Make it very expensive for them to produce offshore yet sell at cheap prices in the US, undercutting American jobs.
2) Make it very difficult to do business here, yet evade paying taxes to anyone, because they play a shell game with their multinational model.
3) Punish them outright for embracing internationalism and socialism. If they want to support the UN and all the other internationalist organizations, they must do so out of their own pocket, not push through laws to have taxpayers money spent on such scoundrels.
4) Bust up the big business oligopolies. Starting with the MSM, and going industry after industry to insure a level playing field.
Would this Congress give him a majority to do that knowing they would also be retired?
Where is the money coming from and who are we to boycott?
We should stop making this mistake. THEY ARE NOT STUPID. They are corrupt. They are in league with the Dems. WE are the stupid ones, to keep supporting the GOPe.
WE are the stupid ones, to keep supporting the GOPe.
Careful, you will be hearing from the GOPe fan club shortly. The GOPe are better than the Dems, dontcha know.
They really are the stupid party.
The GOP corportists are not stupid. They just don’t want to govern in a conservative manner. The easiest way to move the GOP to the left is to just move the entire electorate to the left. It already happened in the UK. The modern UK Conservative party bears no resemblance to the Thatcher era.
“The GOP never wanted to govern.”
The GOP is like Not Sure in the movie Idiocracy. The sergeant says to him, “When someone says to you, ‘Lead, follow or get out of the way’, you’re not supposed to say, “OK, I’ll get out of the way.”!
