A new online poll found that Americans just are not interested in the the World Cup, which is the world's top sporting event.
According to the poll, "two in three Americans do not plan to follow this year's tournament," only "7 percent said they anticipated following it closely," 86 percent of Americans "said they either know nothing or only a little bit about the World Cup, and more than two-thirds did not know Brazil is the 2014 host nation."

Yes.
For a variety of reasons, its not a popular spectator sport in this country.
.....................................................
One primary reason I stated in post 41.
I’ve forgotten more things about American Football than you remember.
Maybe it’s just possible to like both sports.
Another soccer fan in the NFL is Ndamukong Suh. It is why the Lions use him as their backup placekicker. Maybe some of the keyboard tough guys will step up and call him a pussy to his face.
Sure you have. That’s why you think a long snapper is only used in a “shotgun formation.”
What, and till what age.
Guess that explains why an exhibition match between Manchester United and Real Madrid SOLD OUT in 24 hours at the "Big House", you know the Stadium that holds over 100,000 spectators.
“And you know it would be boring because...........?????????????????”
Because I spent so much time watching exactly that sort of boring thing in Germany in my misspent youth. My uncle and cousin were soccer coaches. I lived across the street from the local club sportplatz. B-O-R-I-N-G.
After half the match had gone by I was bored to tears. German TV was far more interesting.
“Thanks for proving post #41!”
I also played soccer a bit when I was a kid. Some of my earliest possessions had “FC Bayern Munchen” and “Beckenbauer” emblazoned on them. Then I grew up and did more adult things.
Even more than the men's, I enjoy the women's world cup (next one will be hosted by Canada next year.) The U.S. ladies have an excellent record, having twice won the cup).
.
Professional thug Ndamukong Suh ...
Now you’re really ticking me off, I’m a Detroit Lions fan. (yes I admit it)
“I guarantee, if the US makes the Finals, it will get Super Bowl-like ratings.”
You misspelled supper bowl.
:)
Kobe Bryant would have been a failure. Only a handful of tall men can compete on the pitch. They’re too slow and don’t have the ball handling ability or agility. Kristof Van Hout is 6’10’’ - of course he’s a goalie because that’s all someone that size can really do. There are only a dozen or so major players in the world who are 6’6’’ or taller and any good. Bryant is 6’6’’.
Ndamukong Suh, who deliberately stepped on another athlete with the intention of deliberately injuring him is regarded as the dirtiest player in the NFL by other NFL players. He’s everything that’s wrong with the NFL.
You did not answer my follow up question. What sport did you play and until what age did you play it. To be fair, I will answer my own question. I played Div I baseball for 4 years and attended spring training the following spring for a MLB organization, unfortunately I did not make it out of Florida. Because of this, I do not put down other athletes in other sports, especially those who play at a high level. Only those who at best were what we call high school heroes or less, non-athletes would stoop that low.
I answered your question. Go read your mail.
Post it here.

He’s the perfect soccer fan!
