Are conservatives linguistically challenged? Or are they just naïve enough to think they can win the battle of ideas with — ideas?
Okay, and money.
Conservatives, like liberals, will spend huge amounts of money this year to get their ideas across to voters. But what they fail to do is bundle their thoughts into a bright, shiny linguistic package that explodes in the face of their enemies when opened.
The left has assembled a rich lexicon of phrases that serve either as stilettos that can be turned again and again in the guts of their opponents, or shields that obscure their true intentions.
The phrasing can be at best vicious, at worst dishonest. But conservatives should consider concocting some nasty comebacks, lest they continue to be perceived as Neanderthals battling forces of progress.
Did I just use the term “Neanderthal”? You immediately knew I couldn’t have meant liberals, because liberals are enlightened. They are Cro-Magnons, each and every one.
Now you see the problem.
Herewith, a list of the top liberal epithets and euphemisms. Let’s start with the former:
War on Women: When Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) noted a few weeks ago that Democrats, who accuse Republicans of waging a “war on women,” were strangely unappalled by President Bill Clinton’s “predatory” behavior, he was slyly undermining one of the worst charges lodged by Democrats.
Really? A war on women? This is blandly repeated by Democrats everywhere as accepted science. But how foolish. One supposedly hates women because . . .

Notice how they try to call Obamacare by it’s official Orwellian name.
Abortion=”choice”
Gay marriage= “Same Sex Marriage” or “Marriage Equality” (we already have marriage equality, gay men are free to marry woman and vice versa)
Gun Control=”sensible restrictions”
Tax hikes=”revenue enhancement”!
Union giveaways are called “rebuilding our nation’s crumbling infrastructure”
Then there’s the whole “red state/blue state” thing.
Even the word “liberal” itself, isn’t supposed to mean “socialist”. They co-opted it.
Some dead Greek, Aristotle maybe, taught that the party to a debate/argument/whatever who was wrong, but learned the truth from his opponent, was the real winner because he left in better shape than he arrived.
We could make winners out of liberals if they would just keep quiet, shut it with the accusations of our personal failings (”racist! homophobe!”) and listen to what we have to say.
But your average lefty is as thick as a brick, so it won’t happen. They will always be loosers.
The excuse is that the left is so much better at telling lies. Everything they say is Orwellian. Add to it they march in lockstep and enforce Lenin’s iron party discipline. Once the party line is established, they mindlessly quote it as their holy scripture.
There is not much hope when the Marxist/liberals control
education and the media.
No. They are inciting hoping someone loses their cool. Nothing more.
The time is not right yet.
Liberals are also good at completely disassociating themselves from reality and truth.
LIEberals = Fascists: They believe in a controlled economy where the government chooses winners and losers; they believe in using the powers of the state to punish and imprison their political enemies; they believe the power of the state should expand to control all economic, social, educational and political aspects of life; etc.
THEY ARE FASCISTS - call them on it.
The sooner people understand the crypto dictatorship and war on any one language, the easier it is to win the language war with them.
They reek with cynicism and projection.
The usage of tired race or gender card is their favorite lie, war and perception making method.
Shift their saying “it is racist that white people get to have cops rescue them at home but not blacks” to focusing their personal attack on everyday people and stoning them for any reason.
REally it is an attitude to stop.
And let us not let them call us antigovernment when we are for the balance of power.
We are anti state anarchy led by leftist bought by the mafya.
The sooner we understand the origin of the money of the left running for power, the easier is to see where they are coming from or what they are about to say.
Anything the left says is crypto-paramilitary-dictatorial... really cryptofascism is communism.
For instance the urgency on Obamacare and Executive Orders are equivalent to police brutality and unecessary urgency. It has nothing to do with delivering care but taking the money and the care in taxes.
It is all based on harm, never in good. They are not about ambulances or firemen or brave cops but thug collection.
Indeed, Conservatives have the talking points but Republicans never borrow them, they stay paralyzed.
Take for instance the lie that abortion is a right.
It is not because it requires a license from an abortion doctor. Killing the unborn is a license to kill or even murder. It has nothing remotely related to a right.
Life is a right.
Marriage between man and woman is a right.
Assembly or contracts are a right.
But the rest really are PRIVILEGES.
THe public does not realize they are losing rights for privileges the government will take away anyways.
Actually, the left wins the language war when they get to define themselves as “liberal”, a term derived from “liberty”, when the big government statists are actually the opposite.
Look up a definition of “liberal”. From Wikipedia: “Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality” and Economic liberalism: “The ideological belief in organizing the economy on individualist lines, such that the greatest possible number of economic decisions are made by private individuals and not by collective institutions.”
I don’t understand how today’s Democrat party can call itself “liberal” in the classical sense, given their hostility to individual rights, and blatant support for racial and gender preferences. They also get to use the term “pro-choice”, when they are anti-choice on education, labor, your money, and everything else except abortion.
Under original definitions, I should describe myself as a pro-choice liberal, instead of a power-hungry, big-government money-grabbing statist.
They win because we let them have the language. Progressive, “gay”, etc. Heck, we have even allowed them to tar us with a left wing economic system; fascism! It is time we stop giving them the language!
There was a news item tonight in Chicago about the dozen or so shootings over the weekend. They employed what is to me the top liberal euphemism, “Gun Violence.” I know this is often mentioned on FR, but I didn’t see it in the article.
Of course, it’s a euphemism because it implicitly excuses the perpetrators as somehow unwitting or even innocent participants in the unfortunate circumstances attendant to the Gun Violence.
Wittgenstein and the German Postmodernist philosophers knew that he who controls the Language/words will control the perceptions of the masses.
This is what Goebbels did so well, with Leni Riefenstahl. That is why it is SO important to CONTROL ALL information fed to the masses (JP Morgan bought all important AP organizations and publishing companies in early 1900s and controlled who made “president” at the influential universities and they funded the Teachers college and designed the curricula for schools.
It forms ‘Worldview” and “group think” and they are erasing Christianity from the minds of the masses, to destroy Individuality for “collective” thinking—been marginalizing and demeaning Christianity and mocking it, since the Monkey Trials. GK Chesterton and CS Lewis attack this frontal assault on the Western Worldview which created the Age of Reason and Science and the USA. But “individual Natural Rights from God is antithetical to Collectivism where individuals have to be culled and eliminated.
The Cultural Marxists also got control of schools (John Dewey) and used “operant conditioning” in all curricula to force “opinion” into the Marxist/Atheist/Satanic one.
The Left’s trick is to destroy language and twist all meanings-—so there is only confusion in debate.
There is no Reason in anything they debate or say. They put “homosexual” in front of the word “marriage” for decades, so that when the children grow up, the concept was normalized, and accepted, and the children are ignorant of Truth/God, that they are irrational and ignorant and can’t see through the false logic. The absurd becomes “normal” although it is irrational.
