What if the United States has been waging the wrong war against the wrong enemy for the last 13 years in Afghanistan?
Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist Carlotta Gall, who's spent more than a decade covering Afghanistan since 2001, concludes just that in her new book, The Wrong Enemy: America in Afghanistan, 2001-2014.

See, that whole 9/11 thing against Afghanistan was wrong...we shoulda been bombing PAKISTAN!
Bush Derangement Syndrome is still alive and well in the media, and despite Team Obama's massive failures on every front, foreign and domestic, the New York Slimes cannot fail to support the Post Turtle.
Pakistan’s major export is misery.
Why does Pakistan even want to claim sovereignty over the “Northern Provinces”?
“New York Times journalist Carlotta Gall”
That is all one needs to know about the story. Funny how I find liberals completely ignore that Obama has been in charge for 6 years now.
I blame Bush too. He considered Pakistan an ally when they were (and always have been) the enemy.
Did Clinton consider Afghanistan an enemy?
The whole world knew Pakistan played back and forth, but they had the N-bomb and could pull it off. Say what you may but they do have clout. What you say about the US could be said by any of the Western nations, plus many in the Far East.
Well there you go. You enjoin with the NY Times.
Pakistan had rogue elements and friendly elements, that is the truth. Just like Iran. Afghanistan, too.
And Musharaff was not an enemy. We were granted, without acrimony (and yes at a price) ability to use their airspace to attack the Taliban within and without their borders AND to hit Afghanistan.
This “looking back” in the midst of Obama’s miserable failures is an attempt to divert attention.
Read my post here from 9-13-01.
Bush and his advisers failed catastrophically as strategists and war leaders.
Sorry, but Pakistan harbored Bin Laden for at least 5 years. That is a hard thing to ignore.
Yes, I know. That doesn’t necessarily reflect on the Pakistani leadership that worked with Bush.
The goal of the article is to bash Bush and deflect from Obama’s failures. There is no reason at this time to bash Dubya on his execution of the WoT, and PLENTY reason to bash BO.
I don’t see any great prescience in that post.
Other than failing to win.
The opposite of victory is defeat.
He said it might take 100 years
And Saudi Arabia.
I do agree, I can think of several prime nuclear targets in that region.
Loser. From "religion of peace" to calling SA and Pak "friends", total, abject, shameful loser.
Heh. Cute and snippy, but not a real argument.
I don’t think he expected any thinking American to believe either of those things, nor did he believe them.
Totally diplomatic posturing during a dangerous time.
I wish he’d leveled both of those places.
