Cliven Bundy to sheriffs: ‘Disarm’ the Bureau of Land Management

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy said Monday that his standoff with the feds isn’t just about cattle: It’s about an “overpowering” bureaucracy in the U.S. that needs to be disarmed.

“I only want to talk to one person in each county across the United States, and here’s what I want to say: County sheriffs, disarm U.S. bureaucracy. County sheriffs, disarm U.S. bureaucrats,” Bundy said on Glenn Beck’s radio show on TheBlaze on Monday.

Beck said he invited Bundy on his show after speaking with him Sunday to try to understand the man whose cattle have ignited a flashpoint between federal regulators and states’ rights advocates over federal land. On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management released Bundy’s cattle back to him after rounding it up on federal land over what they say are unpaid grazing fees.

The release ended a tense standoff between BLM and protesters including Bundy’s supporters, some of whom were reportedly armed.

“My Clark County sheriff, Doug Gillespie, didn’t finish his job,” Bundy said. “What the mandate from we the people was, Saturday was to disarm the park service and BLM. And when he didn’t do that, and his time was up, then we the people took it into our hands and had to do the sheriff’s job and the governor of Nevada’s job.”

Bundy said his supporters marched “and they faced an army of bureaucrats, and they faced those guns with courage and faith and much danger, and they backed those bureaucrats down and they run out of this county into Utah.”

Beck pushed on Bundy as to whether his armed supporters justified the response from the feds, but also questioned whether something more was at play than grazing fees.

“All I know is … I feel like it’s evidently time to disarm this bureaucracy,”...

It isn’t his land. And it is odd argument that because someone keeps on losing in court, they must be right. I have not seen one post that shows that the decisions of the Fed. Dist. court or the 9th Circuit are wrong.

You’ve apparently missed all the accounts of how the government kept changing the laws on Bundy. I’d list them for you, but I think you would benefit the most if you did your own leg work. I know it’s hard, but try to keep up.

BLM has been taking away rights of people for 30 years. As long as the courts say it is ok, then your ok with that? In the meantime, the communist, socialist or whatever name you like, have absolutely no respect for the law

While you are weakly surrendering the country, you have a Attorney General in contempt of congress telling State Attorney General to selectively enforce the law.

Your respect for the law is about 30 to 40 years behind. Its a new game, a new way the citizens has to arise to fight the communist takeover.

Come on for crying out loud, they took Mr. Bundy rights away for a tortoise, the BLM refused to honor their part of the contract 20 years ago when they were required to maintain the land. They forced Mr. Bundy to make improvements on the land that he paid the BLM to make. On and on.

But by goodness, according to you, he has no standing because the courts for 20 years say so . . . In the meantime all other socialist can thumb their nose to the law and thats just the way it is with meek, weak and mild manner conservatives

I am retired United States Army. I served this Republic for 20+ years. I went to a very unpopular war called Vietnam. I fought there, was wounded there, spent months in the hospital. In my retirement, especially the past six years, I have undergone 6 surgeries to repair damages to my body from military service. I love my country. I served in situations that could have cost me my life. I have friends in graves today that did give their lives.

However, today, now, I don't like my "government" which runs my country. I am afraid of what this government and all its minions are doing to this nation. The national debt will never be repaid. We have turned our backs on decades old friendly nations. This government has turned its back on Israel, our ONLY true friend in the middle east. We have left Israel to defend themselves against over 500 million Muslims that hate and want to murder them and destroy their nation and take control of it. This government going to destroy this country. I, for the first time in my life, do not like this country. I am talking of the government and millions of people who sit on their butts for other hard working people's money. The day is coming, and it may be soon, when an enemy is going to attack this country, and the fool in the White House is going to cause it. Millions can potentially die because of these fools. And sadly, I am not so sure this nation is going to survive. Putin wanting to put bases in South American countries, in Cuba. And the fool in the WH is going to cost this nation a payment that we simply cannot deal with. And I don't trust the other political party to do much to fix it.

The account from 2007 is the work of a person associated with a group that knows best about person-on-person abuses of the Nevada BLM (including earlier outrages by this past weekend’s K-9 attack-officer “Michael Roop”).

That group is “Lawyers for Burners” and they have been witnessing and publicizing this pattern of abuse for years.
(Actions by “Roop” were so notorious there that the event organizers specifically requested the non-return of that particular officer when they re-negotiated their permits in a recent year). A link to their home page for further reading is below.

If The Blaze or Glenn Beck’s producers want to follow up on today’s video replays or Bundy interviews with persons who can best provide corroborating information, they should go directly to a founder of the group Attorney David Levin whose office is listed in California Bar Association membership records at 650-858-8500. He was quoted in an article describing BLM’s tactics when confronting the unarmed public attending an event on federal land in Nevada as amounting to a “police state” back in August 2010.
