CEO Dan Cathy wants his company to get past a controversy in 2012 over his anti-gay marriage comments by starting to focus more on attracting younger customers and leaving the public discussion of social issues to politicians

Chick-fil-A wants to move beyond recent controversy over the fast food chain’s stance on gay marriage as it looks to court younger customers.

CEO Dan Cathy told USA Today in an interview published Monday that he’s bringing the company into a millennial-friendly era that will not only include new menu items and store locations, but a new perspective on what beliefs should and shouldn’t be shared with the public.

"Do you intend to never again visit or buy something which profits a blue state? Because you would certainly have no integrity if you ever did."

Does not track with my comments on Mr. Cathy - he drew a line in the sand which social conservatives rallied around him for.
Now he says: "oh, never mind" when faced with possible large financial gain - he made a principled stand, then caved.

I live and work in a Blue state - I understand economics and finance, I don't get where you're going when impuning my integrity.

Still can’t figure out why they would even need to consider caving at all. It has to be liberal wishful thinking. I haven’t read anything but good news on the fiscal front since Cathy made his statements. I was hoping the gaycott would have been worse so I wouldn’t have to stand in line so much. That didn’t happen. I always go during off hours but still have lines all of the time at CFA. They’re fast at moving customers though. Any other fast food place I can do a Hollywood pull up and never have to wait.

The conservative views didn’t seem to hurt them in the last year when they outperformed KFC. We can change that as easily as we made them numero uno.

Okay well, then he should burn his company to the ground and make several employees unemployed.

Even I don’t run my mouth in certain circles.

I do support Marriage between a man and a woman. Pretty sure he will continue to do so as well, just not as vocally...

Mr. Cathy never said he wouldn't open new stores where there were likely more homosexuals. Mr. Cathy has not said he's for gay marriage. Mr.Cathy continues to believe in normal marriage. Mr. Cathy, along with the restaurants, will continue to be a Christian example, continuing to serve all as before.

It appears everything you've either stated or implied is a lie.

You've impugned yourself, quite well, Psalm 73, by casting aspersions on a godly man.

Interesting. You willingly state you'd rather support McDonalds than a true Christian-led restaurant. This, despite McDonalds’ donations to gay groups:

http://laist.com/2008/08/06/mcdonalds_donation_to_gay_rights_an.php

It's one thing to not eat food you don't like. It's another to cast aspersions on a godly man for something you will happily support with an entity that is many-fold worse.

That reeks of hypocrisy.

"Now everyone calm down a bit. He didn’t exactly endorse gay marriage; from what I could read, he was saying that he was going to stop commenting about things publicly and worry about selling chicken. Is that caving?"

Thank you for injecting some sanity.

He's in the business of selling chicken sandwiches. We shouldn't expect him to put anything ahead of selling chicken sandwiches.

This is the conservative version of "Shut Up and Sing". I can't blame him for wanting to be a businessman first and foremost.

On his latest show, Mike Huckabee had an excellent take on freedom of speech, how conservatives don't try to silence the leftist CEOs of Amazon, Google, Apple, etc, but the left goes after anybody who dares to express a view they do not like.

"It appears everything you've either stated or implied is a lie."

Mr. Cathy stated he would no longer weigh in on his view on this topic.
Silence is good for business. Bad for ethics. And bad for the Gospel.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Life sucks, I guess. But you can change that - show me where the owner comes out for our side in the past 6 months, rather than being SILENCED.

Hate to break the news to you guys, but I trust the liberal media more than some stranger posting on this site without links.

would set you off. But nope. You not only proudly owned up to them but you also added that you are a willing lapdog of the liberal press.

I trust the liberal media more than some stranger posting on this site without links.

Mind was right when he observed you are not motivated by righteousness.

BobL, show me where you’ve EVER had a fraction of the public stance this man has had.

Put up or shut up, supporter of McDonalds gay donations.

I am NO fan of Huckabee, however yesterday on his show he was
EXTREMELY upset CHIK-FIL-A apologized for their stance on the marriage issue!!! Huckabee said millions of people stood with them, stood
in line for hours to show their support of their free speech rights,
Huckabee basically called them COWARDS for NOT standing with the people who STOOD with them!!!!

Your #31 is excellent. Wasn’t there something about “beams” and “motes” in scripture ?

And Huckabee is an opportunist who illegally donates office space for a Mexican consulate to issue illegals’ ID cards.

This is not any sort of a “cave” by Chick-Fil-A. Dan Cathy is still a Christian and still supports normal marriage. He just will try to not be as much of a lightening rod about it.

By the way, you've gone just as public in support of normal marriage, right?

If not, then look at your own bad example and stop casting aspersions.
