WASHINGTON A long-suppressed report prepared by the Department of Homeland Security for the Defense Department concludes that North Korea could deliver on its threats to destroy the United States with a nuclear electromagnetic pulse attack.
The report remains blocked from release to the American public.
However, a copy obtained by Peter Vincent Pry from sources within DHS finds North Korea could use its Unha-3 space launch vehicle to deliver a nuclear warhead as a satellite over the South Pole to attack the U.S. from the south.

NORK EMP Ping.
Abny savvy Freepers know what, precisely, this would knock out or where we could find a comprehensive list?
Computers, yes; telephones, too, I’m guessing. Televisions and portable radios?
ATM machines, eh?
Cash registers?
How about microwave ovens?
The thermostat on the wall?
The whole electrical grid?
What about water pumps out in the yard?
City/suburban water pumps that bring us our suburban water...?
Anything else?
Satellites in space?
What’s the range of an EMP blast?
It seems these studies always have an agenda, whether it is true or not, makes no matter.
What is the agenda?
I doubt they are much of a threat to the continental US, EMP or otherwise. They seem incapable of many things.
My preference is that they hit a relatively remote island in Hawaii. Unless an EMP is DEMONSTRATED nobody will believe it’s real. They simply won’t...and our systems will not get hardened.
We’ve already made the decision to let Iran and the Norks go nuclear - we might as well start defending ourselves against the results of that policy.
Ideally the range is line of sight. One bomb over kansas could effect the entire us. Emp can effect any device with a chip in it. Practically the damage depends on strength of the pulse. Distance, efficiency of the bomb, metal or earthen shielding will impact the damage. Damage could be total or it could be hit and miss.
The last i heard their rocket could only put about 65kg into orbit. Their bomb is thought to be significantly heavier.
if we were to reply in kind, nothing would happen to North Korea...they have nothing for an EMP to effect.
We have exploded thousands of nuclear weapons below and above ground. Many were very high-altitude. EMP effects are real, but hysteria exaggerates EMT threat. One 10-50kt nuke isn’t going to send us back to the 19th century.
The US government under this president is not in the business of defending its citizens. I’m afraid that EMP defense is up to individuals.
Ergo, this one is not too high on my OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE list, ya know ?
“Comments? Anyone?”
Why would they want to attack the US with an EMP?
I doubt that any other country will bother to keep sending them food.
On your questions as to the motive, what makes you think that logic would enter into the equation?
Jeez.
Pry said that an EMP attack on the U.S. would not have to originate from North Korea but could be a missile, such as the SA-2, launched from a freighter off the U.S. East or Gulf Coasts. At that point, there would be no missile defense capable of halting such an event.
Double Jeez.
The people in power in NK have all the electricity they want or need.
Very highly probable China has strategically prepositioned EMP devices. No fuss no muss.
A moment after, ha, they will wait a year until American society has totally chaotically dissolved. Then they willl recolonize the new world.
Please elaborate your comments.
