I had 2 shots at the practical exam. I bombed both.
Because I had a 4.0 for the rest of the school, the Chef Instructor watched carefully on the 2nd one. He said I did everything correctly.
It failed.
Kaput.
He clapped me on the shoulder and said "You've always got your baguettes.... "
I've hated deserts ever since.
But I can make stuff like this when I really, really want to. ;)

A somewhat better commute - no accidents in my way but still a light rain, wet roads, and heavy traffic all the way in to the Beltway. It picked up after that, but still almost two hours.
As I was climbing the stairs to Boudoir MacNessa last night , my right (good) knee gave out just before the last step - extremely painful. I needed help from John-Man to get into bed and thought I would not be able to go in today. I managed to get up, get into Salle de Bains MacNessa, shave and, with difficulty, shower. Going downstairs was really hard - I'm used to leading with my left foot going downstairs - still couldn't bend my right knee or put any weight on my right foot at that point. John-Man helped me out the front door and into the van.
The leg improved during the course of the day - lots of Ibuprofen - and I'm feeling much better now.
It's warm here - we never got below 50 last night and we're expecting to break 70 in the morning.

Hi Kathy. I’m a cook. I do like to cook, especially Italian. I’m actually a better cook than Mrs. Henkster (but don’t you dare tell her that!) I also claim to be a 4th Degree Grillmaster with a masters degree. From Weber State of course.
I had to wing it on what I like most about cooking; they didn’t have “enjoying a few beers” on the list.

Spring has sprung here, 70 degrees here, but I’m sure we’ll get our April rain soon. BTW, we have a Tea Party event here this Saturday, ought to drive the libs wild!

You may need to be thinking about a stair lift to save your knees for general walking. Check around for used ones....much less expensive. My Mom would be confined to a single floor without one.
The upstairs/downstairs problem is huge. I have experience.

Good evening, Mooch...you’re not a microwave?
I don’t cook and don’t know what I’d do without a microwave.
Do you like to cook?

You Are Both a Cook and a Baker |
You're the type who can do it all in the kitchen, and you're always expanding your skill set. You aren't too loyal to one cooking method or cuisine. You love to mix it up and experiment.
You may consider yourself a bit of a foodie and amateur chef. You aren't intimidated by fancy food. You are the ultimate improviser in the kitchen. You can usually whip up something amazing from whatever you have on hand. |

Thanks for the suggestion, Kathy - it's a choice I don't find palatable at present, but it may well become necessary in the near future. I never thought I would be using a walker to get around, but I have been for the last couple of years.
John-Man and I were going through pictures this evening - here's one of him from Christmas 2003:
