DETROIT (AP) Mazda announced on Friday that it is recalling more than 40,000 Mazda 6 cars in the United States, because spiders can weave a web in a vent hose and cause the fuel tank to crack.
The recall involves cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years equipped with 2.5-liter engines. Mazda recalled cars in 2011 for the same problem, for which it put covers on the vent line, but has since discovered that spiders can still get past them.

All Spider Man’s Fault, Captain America never did such shenanigans...
Gee, how could they have missed THAT one on the design FMEA...
“Boss, I found the root cause of the cracked fuel tanks...spiders.”
“Jones, you need a vacation.”
Had a spider web jam the crossfeed tank control on a Cessna 172 I flew once. Couldn’t figure out why valve would not move. Mechanic found this huge spiderweb inside the control valve. It happened twice.
If the vapor pressure build-up causes the gas tanks to crack, rather than the spider webs to blow out....it seems the problem is weak, cheap gas tanks!
A web can crack a fuel tank?
The Death Star had a similar design flaw
They say that spiderweb material is nearly as strong as kevlar (by weight).
Always a good idea to check any firearms stored for a while before firing.
I had a spider take up residence in a handlebar switch housing on a motorcycle I used to own. The headlight kept going off intermittently until I cleaned the dried-one smooshed spider from the contacts.
dried-one = dried-ON
Sheesh.
Thing was, the valve lever moved okay but the avgas somehow hardened the spider web into some sort of plastic mass and wouldn’t flow properly.
Looks like they walked away and it wasn’t really even a crash.
My first thought was...

well, buy a Bugatti...... mine comes with a spider vacuum on the vent tube
It is electric and the computer zaps the tube at switch on
